ONGC was founded on 14 August 1956 by the

Indian state.

In August 1960, Oil and Natural Gas Commission

(ONGC) was formed

ONGC found resources in Assam and establishedthe new oil province in Cambay basin (Gujarat).

In1970 with the discovery of Bombay high, ONGC

went offshore.

In1993 ONGC was incorporated by the Government

of India as a Public Limited Company under

Discovers 363 million metric tonnes of crude oil in
