(equipment, organisation of space, optimisation models for freights handling)

� Functional design of yards and handling areas of the port, conveniently dimensioned to handle a

considerable amount of freights (all the origin and destination ports are connected to the hub port

both for import or export operations)

OPTIMED SYSTEM – Minor ports

� Quays and berths shaped to host feeder vessels

� Contained land side, reduced need of space

− freights coming from land can reach the closest port, since all the connections are granted

from each minor port through the hub port
