in Tobacco Dependence Treatment
for Healthcare Professionals

A series of mini-modules developed for Global Bridges/IGLC Grantees

WHO training package: "Strengthening health systems for treating tobacco
dependence in primary care" The package contains four parts and targets four different audiences. It took three years to develop and a variety of individual experts, WHO
CCs, other partners were involved in the process.

Step 1: Needs analysis & task analysis
WHO followed six steps to develop the training package
Step 2: Set training objectives & key content
Step 3: Prepare program agenda and lesson plans
Step 4: Write trainer's manual and trainee's workbook
Step 5: Deliver training

Current use and future applications
It has been disseminated to all WHO Member states and it is available in English, Spanish and Chinese.

Future applications: − To promote the integration of brief tobacco interventions into TB
treatment programs, NCD interventions and maternal, child and adolescent health programs in primary care.
