Firefox Flicks is a global video competition encouraging filmmakers to educate people about the issues that affect our online lives.

This year, they focused on the power that having access to the Web through mobile devices gives people and how that power can change the way you see the world and the way you function within it.

The contest runs worldwide and winners are chosen from four regions around the world: North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. We want to give budding filmmakers the opportunity to create and submit short videos about letting people discover, access and enjoy more content that matters most to them and their future.

The Contest is open to individual filmmakers and teams of up to three (3) individuals. Teams must pick a team leader, who will submit the team's video and be the sole recipient of any prizes for the team.

4 Geo-categories: US &Canada, Latin America, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia, Australia & New Zealand.3 Video categories each:60-second spot, Public Service Announcement, Animation

With a camcorderThe use of a camcorder requires, as a minimum, knowledge of its basic functions.

Make sure you have a charged battery before you start. You could carry a second charged battery as a back-up.

Writing the script

A single video clip can be based, for example, on the length (in time) of a piece of your favorite music.

You then already have a time scale with which you are going to shoot. Choose a theme (example: flowers). Your scenario will consist of an opening (beginning of the clip) and closing (end of the clip).

You will need to organize the progression of events using your own inspiration.

You can order the progression of the clip using as a basis: Flower colors (color progression) Places (progression from flowers in cities, flowers on plains, flowers on mountains), Genres (daisies, roses, poppies, etc ...) Anything else in your imagination...

Your script can also be written depending on the timing of your shots.

So how do you make a short clip?

RecordingWith at least a minimum knowledge of your camcorder, you are ready to make shots.

If the time scale of your scenario is to be limited to the duration of your chosen piece of music (eg: 5 minutes), it is advisable to conduct short-term shots (sequences) (eg: 30 seconds to take a view). You may film varied sequences to facilitate a wider choice in the quality of what you filmed.

Video compositionThe video clip of five minutes can be put together with editing software (or composition). Once your clips are on the hard drive of your computer, you still have to import them into your editing software.

You can also complement your editing software with easy to use tools such as Windows Movie Maker, Adobe premier Pro, Auto desk 3Ds Max etc.
