ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION WARNINGENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION WARNINGNearly 8.590m3 of waste water from hundreds of hotels, restaurants in the city and more than 8.310m3 wastewater from households in the city are discharged directly into Hoai river without prior treatment everyday.

Around Covered Bridge, the pollution become increasingly serious; the water is constantly black, fetid and contaminated and it is still the same now (2010) due to 2,230m3 of sewage from the drainage system of three wards Minh An, Cam Pho and Tan An (total population of 12,000 people) and 28 hotels (700 rooms) and many small restaurants.

A wastewater treatment plant is on construction at cost of 10,9 m EURO (French ODA). However, as the output capacity of 6.700 m3/day, the plant can only resolve 50% of the total amount of waste discharged from all properties in the city and by 2020 the plant can only 30% of the total amount then.
