What is a Standard-Based Report Card?
• A standards-based report card highlights the most important skills students should learn in each subject at a particular grade level. In a standards-based learning environment, students receive marks that show “how well they mastered each skill.”

This section of the report card is divided into two parts:
• Personal and Social Development• Work and Study Habits

Elements in this section include:• Plays/interacts well with others• Takes care of personal belongings• Respects the rights and property of others• Demonstrates acceptable classroom behavior• Follows cafeteria, recess and other school

Work and Study Habits
Elements in this section include:• Works independently• Works cooperatively• Makes good use of time: attends to task• Completes class work• Displays effective organization skills• Works carefully and accurately• Completes homework assignments• Listens and follows directions• Listens while others are speaking• Participates in class

Academic Reporting Key
• Level 4 - Meeting Learning Standards with Distinction
• Level 3 – Meeting Learning Standards
• Level 2 – Partially Meeting Learning Standards
• Level 1 - Not Meeting Learning Standards

English Language Arts (ELA)
The ELA Section of the report card highlights: Reader’s Workshop and Writer’s Workshop.
• Reader’s Workshop includes: word analysis, vocabulary skills, how students listen/read/respond to text, and how students apply comprehension strategies.
• Writer’s Workshop includes: how a student generates ideas, writes for different purposes/audiences, organizes ideas, how students write fluent sentences, how a student applies revision skills and mechanics

Math
The Math Section of the report card highlights:• The demonstration of knowledge of
mathematical concepts• How students apply the process skills to
problem-solving (reasoning, communication, representation, making connections)
• How students utilize strategies for: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division etc.

Social Studies
The Social Studies Section of the report card highlights:
• How students demonstrate knowledge of and apply social studies concepts
• How students apply process skills (collects and interprets information from various sources; interprets maps, graphs, and other representations)
• How students use written communication effectively in this content area

Science
The Science Section of the report card highlights:• How students demonstrate knowledge of and
applies science concepts• How students apply scientific process skills
(observing, recording data, experimenting, interpreting results, and communicating)

Interdisciplinary Processes
• This section of the report card highlights how students demonstrate digital literacy and an understanding of technology concepts throughout the content areas.
• In grades 1-5, this section includes how students collaborate using digital media.
