The Idea Brief rationale

Start ups notorious for high risk of failure○ Aim to reduce risk by independent mentoring

Younger the start up the higher the risk○ Use experienced start up mentors

Aim Mentor / guide start ups through difficult early stage, help

avoid pitfalls and problem areas Provide signposts and training / workshops Support mechanism – is this right for you?

Timing 12 month programme ideally 6 / 6 before / after launch

Mentoring Approach - Discussion It’s a challenging approach, expecting the mentees to find

their own answers but offering support when it is needed How much do we guide and signpost rather than question? What happens if you feel exposed or outside of your comfort

zone? Support network for the mentors? How can we ensure the mentees get all the support and

challenge they need? Communications between: WBS, steering group, mentors,

mentees? What happens in the event of a problem in the mentoring

relationship?
