Research Objectives

The main objective of this research is to evaluate theexisting city transport policy related to motor taxi in thecities development. The specific objectives of the studyare:1. To describe motor taxis on growing city’s

development.2. Study the possibility to integrate motor taxi as a

part of formal transport system.

Research Questions

In order to achieve the objective, the research will answer this research question:1. What is the current public transport policies related to

motor taxi?2. To what extent motor taxi is influencing to support the

development of the city?3. What are the responses from policy makers, customers

and the operator/driver related to motor taxi policy?4. What are the possibility improvements for developing

motor taxi in the city area?

Research Site

This study proposed to be held in Indonesia, mainlySukabumi city in West Java. Sukabumi is selected asresearch location because Sukabumi is the biggestregency in Java and Bali Island with rural characterdominating almost all area of it. Sukabumi issurrounded by big city like Jakarta and Bandung sothat urbanization becomes common phenomenon forthem. The growth of motorcycle taxis is rapid and itexisted in almost every road intersection. Anotherreason is researcher know well about the localgovernments and situations.

Data Approach

The combination between quantitative and qualitative method will conducted in this research to get data which consist of: Primary data

There will be varied ways to gather primary data. It is mainly acquired by interview and discussion with the local policy makers, consumers, operators/owner and non-users. The approaches used in collecting primary data are field observation, in-depth interview and questionnaire.

Secondary data Document related to this research will collect from any available institutions and department. It used to analyze their content so we can determine the existing condition and get comprehensive picture on the research field.
