PLAZA DE ESPAÑA

La Plaza de España was called in ancient times “la Corralada”. It represents a typical Castillian square. “El Templete” is situated in the centre of the square where the bandstand is. Its origin is linked to the weekly market and dates from 1670. A very important characteristic of the square is that it is surrounded by arches, the same as in “La Plaza Mayor” of Salamanca.

The Centre for Social Development works on three major areas: library and reading, cultural and social formation and services related to expanding culture.

In the Centre for Social Development in Peñaranda, there is also a music school. Curiously, the library in Peñaranda has more library members than people living in the town.
