Introduction
The aim of this guide is to impose order on the Josep Carreras
Leukaemia Research Institute Foundation’s visual and written
communications.
This manual constitutes the only valid guide for all
communication between internal departments and with external
suppliers and the public, so as to build a single and
homogeneous perception of our organisation.
The guide contains an explanation of the rules to be applied
regarding the logo, communication media, most frequent
materials and standard transcriptions and communications.
For any further explanation about our visual identity and style
guidelines, to obtain materials or to resolve any possible
doubts, members of the team should contact:

1. Graphic standards
1.1 Logo
Concept
The aim has been to combine two fundamental
elements in representing the institution, but both
focused on one aim: the future cure for leukaemia.
On one hand, organic shapes that represent the
crux of the problem and also its solution: cells.
These cells are arranged in a manner similar to
the symbol for infinity, thus representing the
Institute's calling and genesis, that is to say,
infinite and tireless research until leukaemia is
100% curable.
On the other hand, a separate orange circle
represents the definitive cure that one day we may
achieve. The different colour for the circle helps
establish a link between the Foundation's logo and
that of the Institute so that the two organisations,
which share the same aim of finding a cure for
leukaemia, are more readily associated with each
other through colour.
The design as a whole has a dynamic and cheerful
appearance quite befitting the hopes and
enthusiasm that constitute the driving force behind
all the endeavours of the Josep Carreras
Leukaemia Research Institute.

Logo
Standardisation. Exclusion zone.
The logo will be more visible and will have greater impact if there is sufficient space around it.
The exclusion zone defines the space within which there must be no text, image or graphic
element. Whenever possible more space should be added.
Example: in combination with one or more other logos

- Institut de Recerca contra la Leucèmia Josep
Carreras
- Instituto de Investigación contra la Leucemia Josep
Carreras
- Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute
The acronym IJC may be used only when the full name of the
organisation, the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research
Institute, has been previously mentioned. An effort should be
made to avoid overuse of acronyms.
The following variations are not approved and should NOT be
used:
- Institut de Recerca Josep Carreras contra la Leucèmia
- Institut [...] contra la Leucèmia Josep Carreras
- Instituto de Investigación José Carreras contra la Leucèmia
- Institut [...] Josep Carreras
- José Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute
- Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute
In English the British, not the U.S., spelling of the word
LEUKAEMIA is to be used (not LEUKEMIA).
Word order and capitalisation are always to be observed for the
name of the Institute.
The Institute’s campus names in English, their short forms and
acronyms are as follows:
Campus Clínic-UB
Campus ICO-Germans Trias i Pujol o Campus ICO-GTiP
Campus Sant Pau
Campus names must always accompanied by mention of the
name of the organisation. The variations UB-Clínic Campus and
ICO Campus may not be used.18
All scientific publications by IJC researchers must also be credited
with the following text in English:
Josep Carreras Leukaemia
Research Institute
