Background

Giving Importance to an

Image

The background is dark so when it is

given half tone background it gives a

3D effect to the picture.

TOPOGRAPHY Creative Design Principles

Balance

All elements of the design radiate out from

a center point in a circular fashion and it balances the images.

Symmetrical balance is mirror image

balance. All the objects on one side of the

screen are mirrored on the other side.

Asymmetrical balance occurs when several

smaller items on one side are balanced by a large

item on the other side, or smaller items are placed

further away.

Radial Symmetrical Asymmetrical

CREATIVE DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Proportion is defined as the

balanced relationship of all the parts to the

whole, either visual or structural

elements in a design.

Proportion

Dominance is about the focus

given to a part of a work of art and can be created by contrasting

pictorial elements such as line, shape, tone, texture, direction,

size or colour.

Dominance

Unity is the sense of oneness, of

things belonging together and

making up a logical whole and also organise the

elements into a unified artwork.

Unity

ELEMENTS OF DESIGN

Texture ShapeTexture is the

application of a type of surface

and can be rough, smooth, spiky, soft, velvety,

regular or irregular.

Alignment

Colour

It is an enclosed space, the

boundaries of which are defined by other

elements of art (i.e. : lines, colour ...)

It is the arrangement or categorisation of elements that relate

to one another.

Line

Negative space is the space around and between the subject of an image. It forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape.

Positive space is the primary subject matter in a work of art or the

unoccupied spaces.

IMAGE TYPES

Bitmap Graphic Images•A type of graphic composed of colored dots, or pixels. The fewer dots-per- inch, the smaller the file size of the graphic, but the less clear the images will be. Raster graphics cannot be dramatically resized without image degradation.

Example:

JPEG

GIF

PSD

PNG

IMAGE TYPE

Vector Graphic Images

•A type of graphic composed of points plotted mathematically on a grid. Many clip art files are vector graphics. Vector images can be resized without image degradation. Many clip art files are vector graphics.

Example:

PDF

AI

SWF

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN IMAGE TYPES

Bitmap images (also known as raster images) are made up of pixels in a grid. Pixels are picture elements; tiny dots of individual color that make up what you see on your screen.

Vector images are composed of points plotted mathematically on a grid.

Difference between a vector and bitmap graphics is that a vector is a format of a drawing whereas bitmap is a format of a photo.

The advantages of a vector is that the drawing can be stretched to any size without ruining the quality and bitmap is faster to display .

When bitmaps are stretched it ruins the picture as we can see that the picture may look blurred.

This is a vector image made of vector points and lines.

This a bitmap image made of a variety of colour pixels.

Feathering Graphic design done by using fireworks. It is in

a PNG file formats.

Custom shapeA vector image done by using

fireworks. It is as well in a PNG file

format.

Abstract image. It is a vector image

done by using illustrator.

AnimationIt is done by using adobe flash and it

is converted to SWF file format.

Half tone BackgroundIt is done by using

Photoshop and is converted to a PSD file format.

Web IconsIt is done by using illustrator.

EXPORT FILE FORMATSRaster Images

JPEG/JFIF

GIF (Graphics Interchange Format)

PNG (Portable Network Graphics)

PSD

JPEG  is a commonly used method of

lossy compressions for digital photography (image).

It is a sort of images you normally create in vector

drawing programs such as Illustrator. It is a compressed format and compresses at a ratio of between 3:1 and 5:1

The Web-graphics creation program

Fireworks uses a kind of PNG as a native file

formats.PSD stands for “Photoshop

document.” usually as read-only or for

import/export purposes

Native file format of Adobe Illustrator. AI is actually a

variation of the Adobe Encapsulated Postscript (EPS)

format.

The SWF (Shockwave Flash Object) file format was designed from the ground up to deliver

graphics and animation over the Internet.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

I couldn’t work on my designs, or tasks at home as I didn’t have CS5 Software at home. So To solve this problem I downloaded the students trial version at home.

I didn’t have USB to backup my files, so I borrowed it from my friend.

The main problem I faced was I lost some one my most important files, so I had to do it again.

When I had trouble in understanding the main task I asked the teacher and cleared all my doubts.

I got a lot of help from the person sitting nearby.

When I didn’t know how to use the CS5 Software Shannon helped me a lot.

To create the presentation I got a lot of help from the internet from websites like Google and Wikipedia.

COPY RIGHTA student can copy only 10% of a web page.

Copyright is the right to control the copying and some other forms of exploitation of copyright material. In Australia, the rights of copyright owners derive from the Copyright Act 1968.  It is designed to prevent the unauthorised use by others of a work, that is, the original form in which an idea or information has been expressed by the creator.

For example.Copyright© 2010, Commonwealth of AustraliaThe material contained on this website constitutes Commonwealth copyright and is intended for your general use and information. You may download, display, print and reproduce this material in unaltered form only for your personal, non-commercial use or use within your organisation. The copyright notice consists of the symbol ©, followed by the name of the copyright owner and the year of first publication: for example, “© Gus O'Donnell 1968”. For sound recordings, the letter “P” (for phonogram) in a circle or in brackets is used instead of the “C” in a circle.

AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT LEGISLATION TYPES

The Australian Copyright Act 1968 does not cover all forms of intellectual property. Trademarks, patents and circuit layouts are covered by separate legislation, though designs may be covered by the Copyright Act (as sculptures or drawings) as well as by the Design Act.

User’s Moral responsibilityIt is users moral responsibility to attribute relevant creators; not “falsely” to attribute them (for example, by failing to indicate that the material has been altered by someone else); and to respect the integrity of their work (by not using it in a way that may damage their reputation or honour).
