Introduction to our project

• We use scientific method in our project as following

Introduction to the Scientific Process

Identify a problem

Gather Information

Formulate a hypothesis

Design and Experiment

Step 1: Our big question

Page 5: Prepared by Mr. Rabeea Hussein Chemistry teacher + his students team work

Step 2: Gather Information

• Use references to do background research

– Internet:

1-http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Water

2-

– Interview Experts:-AlShaker company for water treatment

Step 3: Formulate a Hypothesis

Hypothesis– we hypothesis that if the water has high TDS

value then we can convert it to soft water by evaporation because of the evaporation separate the salt from the water

1-CAN BUILD UP A MODEL OFAQUATIC QATER SEA WATER?(Y/N)2-HOW MUCH THE T.D.S OF QATER SEA WATER ?3-WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF HEATING ON T.D.S OF QATER SEA WATER? 4-CAN YOU BUILD A DEVICE TO CONVERT HARD WATER TO SOFT WATER?

Step 4: Develop an ExperimentMaterials:

• three Samples of water from: al wakra –alkhour –alkornich areas• Supplies:T.D.S meterpH meter HeaterThermometer

Aquarium Tow dish ( one thermal glass + one ceramic)Thermal plastic sheetCoin

Thermals Wool

• Teacher divided students to three groups:-a-Group 1 (3 students) :make aquatic Qatarian

environmentalb-Group 2 (3 students) :analysis the three

samples of water by T.D.S meter , pH meter and thermometer and take the results for each samples 3 times for each experiment

c-Group 3 (2 students) :make a MBAW device for converting hard water to soft water

Variables

• Area of water• Temperature• Effect of universal indicator• PH• T.D.S value

Step 7: Make Conclusions

• You must repeat the experiment to make the data valid three times at least

Our conclusion : 1-

T.D.S IS VERY HIGH IN QATAR SEA WATER.2-

WE CAN BUILD A SIMPLE MBAW DEVICE FOR CONVERT HARD WATER TO SOFT WATER
