Prepaid Energy Meter
2
The concept of Electronic Energy meters are introduced in the power sector to effectively Monitor the billing faults and minimize the losses
Prepaid Energy meter is a multipurpose project which can integrate all the functions like billing and automatic message response to user

Motivation
5
UP is the country’s biggest center for the country’s most inefficient power sector failures
The state is also blamed for overdrawing electricity from the national grid through illegal means
According to the World Bank estimates, ignoring bill payement reduces India’s GDP by around 1.5% (Smith, 2012)
6
A study by NDTV also concluded that 40% of the electricity in India is unpaid
Of all the power generated in the country, around 1/4th is either stolen or lost in transmission
Level of electricity losses and the economic growth rate are inversely related.
7
Objective of the project Developing energy meter that informs
consumption
Informing consumption via SMS
Prepaid paying of electricity bills
Minimize losses

Project Work
10
Making a proper billing system-from shifting post paying into pre-paying system
Device would help notify amount of power consumed
LCD screen displays the power consumed and remaining balance
Inform user about prepaid recharge
Load would cutoff when balance is null

The term GSM usually means the GSM standard and protocols in the frequency spectrum around 900MHz
The MS is the physical equipment used by a subscriber, most often a normal hand-held cellular telephone
The BTS comprises the radio transmission and reception devices, and also manages the signal processing related to the air interface
GSM COMMUNICATION

This project could also be used for water usage management
These projects will help cut technical and commercial losses and improve collection efficiency
It would reduce human efforts
