Betti Fujikado, co-founder and CEO of advertising agency, Copacino+Fujikado, will challenge your view of your leadership skills and provide frameworks to look at your leadership approach. Betti Fujikado is co-founder and CEO of advertising agency, Copacino+Fujikado. With over 40 years of business experience in both private and public companies, Betti has held positions ranging from CFO to COO to CEO. Today, she combines real-world business experience with creative problem solving for clients like Holland America Line, Premera Blue Cross, Seattle Children’s, and The Wing Luke Museum (what else would you expect from someone who studied both Accounting and Art at the UW?). The granddaughter of Japanese immigrants and daughter of parents incarcerated during World War II at Camp Minidoka, Idaho, Betti is a voice for diversity in the Seattle advertising community, spearheading efforts to attract women in leadership positions and people of color into her industry. She has been a trustee of Western Washington University and currently a mentor for University of Washington MBA students. She has been recognized as a “Woman of Influence” by the Puget Sound Business Journal and recently recognized as one of 2018’s Outstanding 50 Asian Americans by the Asian American Business Development Center in New York.

Traditionally, the majority of leadership and board appointments are made through informal networks that are especially hard for women to break into. Hear from the top women in leadership on how they raised their profiles, navigated the politics and pitfalls of corporate networks, and built the skills, knowledge, and relationships to bridge the gender gap and open doors.

Rachel Ross, CPA, is the Global Tax Director at Fluke Corporation in Everett, Washington. She leads the global tax execution and reporting responsibilities for all domestic and international planning, compliance and transfer pricing activity, while providing direction and guidance to the global finance and business leaders in all tax related matters. Prior to Fluke Corporation, she worked in public accounting for 13 years at Deloitte where she led premier engagements with large multinational companies in the financial services, food services, and technology industries. Rachel holds a Master of Professional Accounting degree in Taxation and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Accounting, both from the University of Washington. Rachel is a Certified Public Accountant since 2006 and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and the Washington Society of CPAs (WSCPA). Rachel plays an active leadership role for the WSCPA Women’s Leadership Summit for over six years helping to plan events, identify quality speakers, generate sponsorship and promote participation. She is passionate about supporting the continued advancement of women in leadership roles.

Carmen Aguiar, CPA, CFP®, started a multilingual international boutique firm, The Aguiar Group Ltd, more than 20 years ago in Bellevue. The Aguiar Group Ltd serves multigenerational families and small businesses, providing tax, financial planning and business advisory services. She is alumni of Ernst & Young’s New York and Seattle offices. Carmen has a passion for board governance and has served on professional, not-for-profit, government and corporate boards. She holds the Fellowship designation from National Association of Corporate Directors. She currently serves on the CAMICO board, an insurance company for CPAs. She has served as Chairman of

several boards including Plaza Bank, a Seattle community Bank, now UBB, and WSCPA. Past involvement includes service on the boards of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, WSCPA, and the SBA National Advisory Committee. She is also past Treasurer of Bellevue Rotary Club and finance and governance advisor to the Bellevue Entrepreneur Center. She is past president of the East King County Estate Planning Council. Carmen has served on the governing council and several committees and special task forces of the AICPA. Carmen has received various professional awards, including Puget Sound Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” award, WSCPA President’s Award, WSCPA Vincent Gervais Public Service Award and the Bellevue Business and Professional Women’s Women of the Year. Carmen enjoys traveling and discovering new places with her husband Cesar and son Felipe.

Carmen Best assumed the role of Chief of Police of the Seattle Police Department on August 13, 2018. Chief Best has served with the Seattle Police Department for 26 years. Most recently, she served as Deputy Chief, overseeing the Patrol Operations, Investigations, and Special Operations Bureaus, as well as the Community Outreach section. Chief Best has completed the Senior Management Institute for Police, the FBI National Academy, and the Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Academy. In 2015, she received the "Newsmaker of the Year" award from the Seattle Black Press. In 2016, Chief Best completed the Major Cities Chiefs Association Police Executive Leadership Institute. She will receive her Master's in Criminal Justice Leadership from Northeastern University later this year. Chief Best is a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), the National Latino Police Officers Association (NLPOA), the Law Enforcement Immigration Task Force (LEITF) and serves as the Chair of the Human and Civil Rights Committee (HCRC) for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Initially appointed by Governor Locke and then reappointed by Governor Gregoire, Laurie served four terms on the Washington State Board of Accountancy. She is also active in accounting regulatory activities at the national level, as the incoming Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy and as a past member of the AICPA Professional Ethics Executive Committee. Laurie has served on several WSCPA committees, including the Government Accounting and Auditing Committee and the Women’s Leadership Committee. Keita Williams is the Founder and Chief Strategist of Success Bully. At the end of 2016, Keita dusted off her vision board and woefully looked at the goals that she had set for herself late in 2015. It was an eye-opening experience. Most areas remained unchanged and, in some cases, there was backward momentum. She found that this was also a recurring theme among her circle of influence. What could have been done differently? The answers were crystal clear—an actionable plan and some good old-fashioned accountability. From there, Success Bully was born. This rapidly growing practice includes four focus areas: 1:1 services, workshops, corporate trainings and content including the Success Bully Podcast and the Daily Butt Kicking video series on YouTube that features tips and intimate interviews with founders and business leaders.
