Wide / Establishing Shot

Immediately establishes the setting as it shows the whole scene. Shows we are in an apartment, and creates tension as we see a nervous looking woman.

Immediately introduces us to one of the characters

mystery to the story as the audience wonder who’s feet these are.

Introduces a second character into the story.

Added this shot to add more creative textures to our sequence.

Low angle shot, focuses on the shoes, emphasizing that someone new has entered the room

Synchronous sound of footsteps

AN EXTREME CLOSE UP IS USED TO SHOW DETAIL / JUST THE FACE OF A SUBJECT. LOW ANGLE SHOTS MAKE THE AUDIENCE FEEL INFERIOR TO THE CHARACTER BEING SHOT.

Over the shoulder shows a connection between the two characters; they know each other.

Allows us to see Franchi thrusting the phone at Issy, revealing a plot point that links with the dialogue “Do it, go on” signifying that Issy should write a phone call.

Show’s angry and forceful facial expressions on Franchi’s face. She is represented as the dominant one in the relationship between the two characters, as she closes the gap between her and Issy, connoting she holds the power.

We also see the frustrated expression on Issy’s face as she feels Franchi does not understand what she is trying to get across.

Shows closeness of two characters, adds tension as we see the stakes of the task Issy has to complete are high.

Show’s Franchi’s disappointment, almost as if she has failed her task. Indicating the pained expression on her face when she tells Issy “It’s got to be done”. Possibly indicating that if Issy won’t do it, she will have to complete the task.

Allows us to see Franchi begin to turn, indicating that she is about to exit the room.

Shows that Franchi feels she has failed to make Issy do it, and has to leave the room.

Also show’s Issy, face, continuously watching her in silence, possibly indicating that she regrets that she has to leave.

Wide shot allows us to watch Issy exiting the room, showing Franchi leaving the room.

Also show’s Issy still position, possibly connoting that she is in shock from this exchange or frightened at the task that she has to do.

Shows Issy gazing towards the door, possibly indicating that she regrets what happened.

Extreme Close Up allows viewer to see Issy’s stony expression, possibly indicating that she is deep in thought or has words left unsaid.
