PREAMBLE The aim of the STTP is to bring together the communities who are working in the areas of Industrial Automation and Control. The last decade has seen a radical change in the scale and complexity of engineering systems, from industries like petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and so forth. Complexity arises from a number of factors, such as the nonlinear coupling among units and variables as well as the uncertainty introduced into the system. Further, the rapid progress of information and communication technologies makes the networking even more complicated in deterministic and unpredictable manner. As the core technologies are dealing with complex systems, the development of new automation techniques are required. Automation is a set of technologies that results in operation of machines and systems without significant human intervention and achieves performance superior to manual operation. The updation and implementation of these development leads to enhance the productivity and utilization. COURSE CONTENTS • Safety and Identification • Information management system • PLC • DCS • SCADA COURSE FACULTY Faculty from reputed institutions, Faculty from Pondicherry Engineering College and experts from R&D organizations. ELIGIBILITY The Faculty Members/Research Scholars of AICTE approved Engineering Colleges/Polytechnics and Professionals from Industry are eligible to apply for the course. Teachers belonging to other disciplines may also apply if this course would supplement their research. Admission will be offered subject to the availability based on the TEQIP guidelines. TA/DA and ACCOMMODATION No TA/ DA will be paid to the participants as per TEQIP norms. Working lunch, tea and refreshments will be provided to all the participants. Accommodation will be provided to the selected outstation participants upon request, at their own expenses. REGISTRATION Registration form can be downloaded from the Institute website (www.pec.edu). Interested participants shall apply through post/fax/email with the prescribed format duly signed and forwarded by the head of the sponsoring institution.
