Pre-reg training 2017-18 Kamsons Pharmacy is a family-owned chain of over 50 pharmacies. We have run our established pre-reg training programme for over ten years and will be recruiting around 20 pharmacy graduates this year with vacancies available at selected Kamsons Pharmacy branches in Sussex, London, Surrey, Kent, Luton, Leeds & Manchester to commence in Aug17. Chemist & Druggist article 16th October 2015: Kamsons Pharmacy tops the results with a 100% pass rateThe General Pharmaceutical Council has released the pre-registration pass rates for the 11 largest community pharmacy training providers in Great Britain. English chain Kamsons Pharmacy topped the list of providers with 12 or more trainees who sat June’s (2015) registration exam, with 100% of its 15 students passing, according to the GPhC…” To read the full article and see the full list of pass rates by company see: http://www.chemistanddruggist.co.uk/news/ranked-pre-reg-pass-rates-large-training-providers The full list with Hospital Trusts is at:: http://www.pharmacyregulation.org/news/gphc-releases-additional-pass-rate-information What were the Kamsons Pharmacy results like in the previous year? This excellent pass rate was not a one-off. In summer 2014, 94% of Kamsons pre-regs passed the GPhC Registration exam on their first attempt. The national pass rate was 85% in June 2014 and only 74% in June 2015. How does Kamsons have such a good pass rate? We do not concentrate on the exam but on our holistic training programme. We work closely with Health Education Kent, Surrey & Sussex to provide joint training for our pre-regs with hospital pre-regs, to offer some cross-sector placements in GP surgeries and in hospital pharmacies and to train many of our tutors. We take pride in having a nurturing and caring environment. Our aim is to recruit candidates who will be good community pharmacists, not those who are just good at passing exams. What do our past pre-regs say? Our main focus is on ensuring that our pre-regs have a beneficial year. In an anonymous online survey of 70 ex-Kamsons pre-regs, 93% would recommend Kamsons Pharmacy to a student looking for a place. 90% said that their pre-reg year was extremely or very effective at preparing them to become a pharmacist. What happens after the pre-reg year? The vast majority of our ex-pre-regs continue to work in our pharmacies as locums, relief pharmacists or pharmacist managers. However, there is no obligation to work for us afterwards. Nearly half of our pharmacist managers are our ex-pre-regs.
