Conventions of the Pre Raphaelites

• Romanticism- the use of soft light in the paintings adds a sense of romanticism which could be replicated with lighting

• Medieval culture-harks back to old legends and myths of the medieval era

• Intense coloursWould Add a surrealist edge and depth to the mise en scene

Colour palette

• The colours associated with the pre Raphaelites were very bright and intense colours (bright reds, yellow and gold hues, vivid greens, blue (cobalt and turquoise)

• Presents a very decadent and rich atmosphere, almost jewel-like.

This technique could

be shown in the

characters’ costumes

–perhaps to present

irony of the thriller

genre and the

narrative situation

(relationship between

the protagonist and

antagonist)

Film Poster /magazine cover

• I could effectively use lighting to create a pre-Raphaelite-esque scene for the cover of the film magazine, or even the film poster to give a modern yet unconventional twist to the Psychological thriller genre.

• The font of the poster and film could also show connotations to the medieval era with ornamental fonts that intertwine (possibly create own with hair

curling unravelling from the title.)
