PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Open cast mechanized mining method with maximum bench height of 12 mand minimum bench width of 30 m. Controlled blasting and wet drilling/dry drilling with dust collector miningtechnique. Working bench width will be kept minimum 20 m wide for safe movementof HEMM. Working pit angle slope is proposed to be kept at 45°. Haul road is planned at 1 in 16 gradient with 18 m width. Working will be maintained in such a way that all quality limestone will beavailable for blending with low grade limestone. Over burden and inter burden will be stacked in earmarked area as well asbackfilled in worked out pit simultaneously.

Mineral processing:The ROM Limestone is fed to crusher Wobler where +90 mm part is fed intocrusher, where it is crushed to -90 mm size. The -90 mm size from crusher Wobleris fed to Secondary screen from where (-6mm) part is rejected, while + sizematerial is added to Crushed -90 mm Limestone.

Use of Rock breaker in place of secondary blasting to reduce generation offly rocks and ground vibration. The system is ECO friendly. Large capacity excavators are used with dumpers. The haul roads will be kept wide to support two-way traffic. The roads willbe properly maintained by road compactor and regular water spraying willbe done during work hours to prevent generation of dust from vehicularmovement.

Waste dumping sites will be vegetated by suitable plantation to prevent airpollution during stormy winds. Gaseous emissions generated from HEMM and blasting will be kept withinlimits by proper maintenance of all machineries and controlled blastingwith suitable explosives. In order to reduce air pollution in the surrounding, Green Belt will bedeveloped around mine office, approach roads, pit peripheries and wastedump yards and along the boundary. Periodic air quality survey will be carried and the records will bemaintained properly.

10.2 Solid WasteManagement

The waste available in the mining area shall be backfilled and spared allaround the water reservoir for safety purpose. This shall strengthen thebanks of the water reservoir and shall be used for plantation afterspreading top soil over it.10.3 Waste Water Management

Garland drains along with de-silting pit will be constructed all around theOB dumps. Waste water generated from the office toilets will be disposed off in soak pitvia septic tank. Waste water generated from the work shop will be used in crushed for dustsuppression after oil and grease separation.

10.4 Noise Pollution ControlTo maintain the noise level well within the prescribed limit inside the plant (85dB (A)) and at the plant boundary (day time 75 dB (A) and Night Time 70 dB (A))the following measures will be taken:-1 Proper maintenance and lubrication of plant machineries2 Plantation in the lease area.3 Sharp drill bit with wet drilling/dry drilling with dust collector arrangements.4 Controlled blasting by latest blasting technique using stock tube detonator(Down-line detonator in combination with noise less trunk line detonators.)

5 Use of Rock breaker in place of secondary blasting.6 Use of personal protective equipment like ear plug and ear muffs to allworking persons at the site.10.5 Hazardous Waste ManagementUsed oil is generated as hazardous waste from the plant which will be sold toCPCB authorized dealer.10.6 Green Belt DevelopmentThe total mining lease area is 912.0 ha hectare and the greenbelt will bedeveloped in 301.0 ha area of the total ML area at the end of life of mines. Densityof plantation would be 200 trees / ha. (Considering the Harsh environmentalcondition of Jaisalmer area) Survival will be maintained more than 85%. Localnative species will be planted.10.7 Socio Economics MeasuresShree Cement is committed to contribute in the development of basic needs of thelocal area like education, Health & family welfare, women empowerment, Naturalresource management, water conservation, roads etc. For socio-economicdevelopment of the nearby village, we have “Shree Rural Development society” tosurvey the basic infrastructure needs of the villagers like education, medical, drinking water for human beings and animal, roads, plantation and rain waterharvesting etc and accordingly financial assistance will be provided by thecompany to the local authority.11.0 CONCLUSIONProposed project will result in growth of the surrounding areas by increaseddirect and indirect employment opportunities in the region including ancillarydevelopment and supporting infrastructure. Special emphasis on Financial andSocial benefits will be given to the local people including tribal population, if any,in the area. Development of social amenities will be in the form of medicalfacilities, education to underprivileged and creation of self-help groups. No adverse effect on environment is envisaged as proper mitigation measure willbe taken up for the same.
