1 Current COVID-19 situation in Norway
With increasing vaccination coverage in the population many infection control measures for the population have been removed
Norway is now more or less open ldquowith increased preparednessrdquo
2 Study permit and the entry
period(only for Non-EU students)
Borders are open for international students since 1 August
UDI is now processing study permits for your entry in the end of DecemberJanuary (only for non-EU citizens)
The entry period is between 20 December and 31 January
3 Entry rules and quarantine
Travelers arriving through a countryregion with quarantine duty must go into quarantine upon arrival
Fully vaccinated people and those who have had COVID-19 during the past six months are exempt from entry quarantine if they have valid documentation
What is a valid documentation- COVID-19 certificate with a QR code that is connected to the EUDCC gateway
Check the information regarding entry rules and quarantine on the following website before you arrive in Norway

Please note that the place of quarantine must be at the first entry point in Norway as a rule
4 Hotel quarantine
You will have full-board accommodation at the hotel during the quarantine period The individual share of quarantine is NOK 500 per day
Students should prepare to pay this cost by themselves first The refund can be made later when you open a bank account in Norway Detailed information about the refund will be sent to you in the end of January via email
Remember that you are responsible for the expenses such as phone calls pay-tv mini bar etc
It is not possible to choose your quarantine hotel
Remember to receive a receipt of quarantine a confirmation of quarantine from your hotel With this document you can move into your SIS housing or private accommodation
5 Information from SiS Housing ndash How to pick up your key
If you need a student accommodation apply ASAP no later than 30 November
If you are allocated a student housing via SiS Housing you will receive a housing contract soon
Housing contracts start on 3 January You cannot move in before that date
No one else can pick up the key for you
You must present your covid-19 certificate with a QR code or a receipt from the hotel to document your quarantine in order to pick up your key at SiS Housing
Please note that currently only covid-19 certificate that is connected to the EUDCC gateway is considered as a variable way of proving your vaccination
6 BankAxeptcard (only for non-EU students who have transferred the deposit money)
How to obtain the BankAxept card
This card is for your temporary use until you open your bank account in Norwaybull Your BankAxept card can be picked up at
Student Reception in Arne Rettedalrsquos Building
bull In order to get your card and PIN you need to bring
1- Passport2- Your Norwegian address
bull 50 000 NOK will be transferred into the cardbull The money will be available in the card within
3-4 daysbull You can check your balance at
wwwsmnnoutbetalingskort(available in Norwegian only)
bull No one else can pick up the card for you
7 Police registration(only for Non-EU students)
Normally you are required to register in person at the local immigration office (Stavanger Police Station) within 7 days after your arrival in Norway You need to make an appointment on beforehand through the UDI Application Portal
Due to the ongoing pandemic and quarantine rules Police is more flexible with these deadlines Be aware that you are not allowed to enter the police station before you have finished the quarantine duty
Bring the following documents bull Passportbull Address in Norwaybull Admission letterbull Letteremail from UDI
After the police registration you will receive a residence card and Norwegian ID number in the mail

Citizens from EUEEA countries are required to register their stay at Service Centre for Foreign Workers (SUA) within 3 months after their arrival in Norway
You need to make an appointment on beforehand in the UDI Application Portal
Bring the following documents bull Passportbull Address in Norwaybull Admission letterbull European Health Insurance Cardbull Print out of a confirmation email of your
appointment

9 How to open your bank account in Norway
After the policeSUA registration you will receive a Norwegian ID number via post This can take up to 3-4 weeks after registration
Remember to register your correct postal address and put your name on mailbox
To open bank account bring to the bank bull your passport bull a letter from Skatteetaten which
documents your Norwegian ID number and your residence card (if you are from non-EUEEA countries)
10 Verification of your original documents
You need to bring your original bachelorrsquos diploma and transcripts with you to Stavanger
You will receive an e-mail about this during spring 2021
Please DO NOT show up without being requested
If you fail to present your original documentations your study rights may be denied
11 Norwegian course- Information from theInternational Office
bull A1 level onlybull 2 evening classes a week for 12 weeksbull Make sure to check your timetable prior to
signing up for the coursebull For more information about registration please

Mandatory for every person from a high endemic country of tuberculosis and every person who has stayed in those countries for more than 3 months See the list of countries with high and very high occurrence
You should take the test within four weeks after arrival to Norway
The tuberculosis test is free of charge
Please make an appointment with the Smittevernkontoret in Stavanger

Students from abroad who have been given a non-EU-approved vaccine as 1st dose can be given 2nd dose by Pfizer or Moderna

3 Entry rules and quarantine
Travelers arriving through a countryregion with quarantine duty must go into quarantine upon arrival
Fully vaccinated people and those who have had COVID-19 during the past six months are exempt from entry quarantine if they have valid documentation
What is a valid documentation- COVID-19 certificate with a QR code that is connected to the EUDCC gateway
Check the information regarding entry rules and quarantine on the following website before you arrive in Norway

Please note that the place of quarantine must be at the first entry point in Norway as a rule
4 Hotel quarantine
You will have full-board accommodation at the hotel during the quarantine period The individual share of quarantine is NOK 500 per day
Students should prepare to pay this cost by themselves first The refund can be made later when you open a bank account in Norway Detailed information about the refund will be sent to you in the end of January via email
Remember that you are responsible for the expenses such as phone calls pay-tv mini bar etc
It is not possible to choose your quarantine hotel
Remember to receive a receipt of quarantine a confirmation of quarantine from your hotel With this document you can move into your SIS housing or private accommodation

If you need a student accommodation apply ASAP no later than 30 November
If you are allocated a student housing via SiS Housing you will receive a housing contract soon
Housing contracts start on 3 January You cannot move in before that date
No one else can pick up the key for you
You must present your covid-19 certificate with a QR code or a receipt from the hotel to document your quarantine in order to pick up your key at SiS Housing
