Prayer GuidePraise God.

Spend some time in praise. Use three or four attributes.

Confession.Isaiah 59:1-2, NIV

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your

iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so

that he will not hear.

First, confess your sin that you know about.

Second, ask for help in your struggle with sin. (Psalm 51:1-3)

Third, confess that you have sin you don’t even know about that you need help with.

(Psalm 19:12)

Praise God with another attribute.

Fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22Choose a couple of the fruits. Praise God for His working in this attribute, then request God

to grant it to you... and be specific about where you need it.

Love / Joy / Peace / Patience / Kindness /

Goodness / Faithfulness / Gentleness / Self-control

Armor of God. Ephesians 6Chose one of the six pieces of armor and “put it on.”

1. Belt / Truth

Ask that God will help you to be honest and full of integrity all throughout the day.

2. Breastplate / RighteousnessAsk that God will help you to reflect Christ’s character (holy, patient, faithful, merciful and so

on.)

3. Shoes / GospelAsk the God will help you with the courage and the right words to share the good news of

Christ with others.

4. Shield / FaithAsk the God will help you keep an optimistic attitude of faith and confidence in God when

you are confronted by discouragement, criticism, hardship, stress and dilemma.

5. Helmet / SalvationAsk that God will help you to keep your thoughts on your promise (the Holy Spirit’s

presence, a kingdom that cannot be shaken, an inheritance in Heaven) rather than the

preoccupations of the world.

6. Sword / Word of GodAsk that God will help you in making time and being disciplined in reading the Word of God,

and that the Holy Spirit will illuminate the scriptures as you read and study.



Pray for others.

Pray for your Spouse.

‣ That you will be the spouse you can be.

• That you are quick to ask forgiveness when you’ve been wrong or selfish.

• That you’ll change any negative or neglectful attitude.

‣ For your marriage.

• That the two of you find a oneness that brings you closer.

• That you will both make marriage a priority, committing time to understanding each

other and placing your spouse's needs above your own.

‣ For your spouse's safety and for God's protection over them.

‣ For your partner's health and strength. Pray that her/his body will be able to fight minor

illnesses and major diseases and that her/his life will be long and free from sickness.

‣ For your spouse to not be overwhelmed by the stress of life; that she/he will relax and

find contentment in all they do.

‣ For your spouse to have the ability, through the Holy Spirit, to overcome temptation to

sin.

‣ That your spouse will find a balance in her/his work.

• That work will bring them a sense of fulfillment.

• That your spouse's job will be a positive part of her/his life, filling them with a sense

of meaning, purpose, and personal satisfaction.

‣ For your spouse’s fears.

• That these fears won't paralyze your spouse.

• That you can be patient and understanding, doing all you can to help and bring

comfort.

• That God will help you to not ridicule or belittle your spouse for his/her fears; and

that you will be a constant source of reassurance and support.

‣ For your spouse's dreams/goals to come true.

‣ For your spouse to continue to grow in his/her personal faith in Christ.

• That their life will be blessed with hope, joy, devotion, and a love that grows day by

day.

• That he/she will make time to pray and grow through some form of devotion.

Pray for your Children.

‣ That they will come to personal faith in Christ.

‣ For them to have an ongoing hunger for God’s Word, for genuine worship, for fellowshipwith other believers, for a bold witness of the Gospel, and for a life of service in the

Kingdom.

‣ For the protection that only comes from God.

‣ For them to hate sin. (Prov 8.13)

‣ That they’re sin would quickly come to light, that they’d be found out.

‣ For them to have “quick-to-repent” hearts. (Psalm 32:5-6)

‣ For them not to be tempted in times of vulnerability. (Matt 6:13)

‣ For them to have harmony in their relationships.

• Their relationship with mom and dad. (Eph. 6:2-3)

• Their relationship with authority figures.• Their relationship with friends. That God would give them Christ-following friends

who will fan-into-flame their own love for the Lord.

• Their future spouse, that God would provide the person and the patience for the

right spouse.

‣ For them to have supernatural favor in their endeavors.

‣ For help in modeling prayer for your children.

Pray for Our Pastors

‣ Pray for your pastor to be honored, affirmed, encouraged, and respected.

‣ Pray for your pastor to be protected from the focused attacks of Satan.

‣ Pray for your pastor to stay far from sin and to walk in obedience to God’s Word.‣ Pray for your pastor to be given wisdom, patience, perseverance, and grace in facing

people problems. And pray that those he leads will be loyal, understanding, and

supportive.

‣ Pray for your pastor’s marriage and parenting.

‣ Pray for your pastor’s teaching ministry - an ability to hear God’s voice, time in the study,

theological accuracy, the personal application of truth, and the filling of God’s Spirit.

‣ Pray for your pastor to consistently practice important spiritual disciples.

‣ Pray for your pastor to be zealous for the church and compelling in promoting its

mission.
