To ask in his name means to ask in his authority and on his merit Just as the Father answered Jesus' every prayer, so he will answer you when you ask in Jesus' name

John 15:7 (If you abide in me, and my words abide in you,ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you)

You are praying and asking God to grant you the grace to continue to remain a part of the VINE for you acknowledge that you are nothing (a useless branch) outside the VINE.
