FROM THE PASTOR’S DESKWe remind you that the Church is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of our Lady of Fatima. She appeared to the three children at Fatima 100 years ago. We here at St. Anthony are celebrating this event with a novena after the 9:00 am Mass on Saturdays and ending with a special Mass on Friday evening October 13th at 7:00 pm. Our lady of Fatima urges us to pray the rosary. I hope that the rosary is part of your life.
This week - end we celebrate Catechetical Sunday. We wish to thank all of you who have volunteered to teach and assist in our faith formation program, a big thanks to Donna Felzani our administrator of our program. There is nothing more important in our parish than our faith formation program, where we teach our young children their faith. Thank you all. There goes the bell it is time for my macaroni and meatballs!

I will seek other shores.

Celebration of
100th Anniversary Year of
our lady of Fatima Apparitions Although we celebrate the feast of our Lady of Fatima on 13th May, this year we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Her appearances at Fatima. It is a wonderful opportunity to renew our spirit to fight against all the all evils, such as: abuses, crimes, calamities and wars and bring them to an end. We are doing a “Special Mass” here at St. Anthony’s (Revere) on Oct. 13th, 2017 (Friday) at 7:00 PM. To get prepared for the meaningful celebration and to receive the grace of God through the powerful intercession of our Blessed Mother we start the five weeks novena to our Lady of Fatima beginning from Sept. 9, 2017 until Oct. 7, 2017. The novena prayers will be done after the community mass on Saturdays. Kindly join us to bring peace to the world! Priests, Deacon and Staffs. St. Anthony’s, Revere

RCIA
The RCIA is structured over a series of ceremonial steps and periods of learning, and the timing of these may vary for each individual. One may take as much time as he or she needs in the initiation process before becoming ready for full initiation through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. Initiation within the Church is a journey of conversion that is gradual and ongoing and suited to individual needs. It is a process rather than an educational program and this process takes place within the community of the faithful, the local Church. We will be starting RCIA here at St. Anthony on Tuesday September 26, 2017 at 7:00 PM. Please call the rectory if you may be interested in joining. Thank you !

THE ROLE OF PARENTS IN CATECHESIS Every year in our country, Catechetical Sunday is celebrated in Parishes on the third Sunday of September. This year we celebrate it on 17th of September (this weekend). The Catechetical Sunday provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays by virtue of Baptism in transmitting faith to another and bearing a witness to the Gospel. In the following lines, I would like to share with the important role of parents in Catechesis. Being a parent is a highly difficult task in today’s situation. The parents have to deal with many challenges to bring up their children with proper motives and values that parents received in the Sacrament of Matrimony “the grace and the ministry of Christian education of their children.” (General Directory of Catechesis No: 227). The Vatican Council teaches that “the family is the “Domestic Church.”. Parents should, by their word and example, be the first teachers of the Faith to their children.” (Lumen Gentium.11). The same idea is again and again stressed by various official documents of the Church, especially by catechism of the Catholic Church. “Parents are the principal and first educators of their children”. (CCC. 1653). Regarding Faith Formation, parents are in three levels. Realizing their God-given duty, few parents give proper and necessary attention to the Faith Formation activity of their children along with other areas. There are parents who think that it is the duty of the Church to give Faith Formation to their children and they send their children to Faith Formation programs regularly. But, many parents ignore their duty of educating their children’s Faith Formation. “The concrete example and living witnesses of parents are fundamental and irreplaceably in educating their children to pray. Only by praying together with their children can a father and mother – exercising their royal priesthood – penetrate the innermost depths of their children’s hearts and leave an impression that the future events in their lives will not be able to efface.” (Familiaris Consortio. No:60). While celebrating Catechetical Sunday this weekend, all the parents of our Parish are invited to reflect over the God-given duty of the Faith Formation of their children.
Twenty Fourth Sunday In Ordinary Time
PRAYER: Loving God, as a parent, we thank You for the gift of our children. As a parent, we sometimes fail to take care of our children’s Faith Formation due to various reasons. We feel sorry for it. Give us the grace to concentrate on this area. Bless all the C.C.D teachers who take care of our children’s Faith Formation in our Parish. We ask this prayer through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Edited and compiled by Fr. Heni FAITH FORMATION NEWS!! Faith Formation News Next Sunday, September 24th, we celebrate the beginning of another year of Faith Formation with our Opening Family Mass at 10:00. We welcome back all of our returning students and families and extend a great big "Hello" to our many new students and their families!! After Mass, please join us in the hall for our Meet the Teacher get together. We have planned a snack, a Fall craft for the children, a Prayer Request basket, and an opportunity for you to meet our teachers, and get a calendar for the upcoming year. We will also have a registration table if you still need to register your child/children for classes. Beginning October 1, classes begin. Grades 1 and 2 and Sacramental Prep Grade 2 will meet from 8:45 until 9:45 and Grades 3-8 and Sacramental Prep grades 3-8 will meet from 11:00 until 12:00. Please continue to pray for the success of our Faith Formation Program! Donna Felzani
