The Cracked Head

2

Hello club members;

I hope you are well. I experienced a near miss with the virus at work.  Two co-workers have tested positive and are sick. They have also infected their families. I was tested. My results were negative. The governor of New Mexico is slowly opening the State back up. As a club we will be restricted from gathering in large groups for many more months. I still see the indoor gathering a long term problem not yet solved. Some club members have adopted Jerry Long's practice of driving a model A for a daily driver. So far it appears that model A's don't  travel at virus speed. Are they too fast or too slow? I see some outdoor picnic trips happening in the future. There is some planning in the works for possible trips to Las Cruces NM, and Tucson AZ.  Get your Model A started up and burn up some of last year's gas before it gives you trouble. Have fun.John G.

* Half of us are going to come out of this quarantine as amazing cooks. The other half will come out with a drinking problem.

* I used to spin that toilet paper like I was on Wheel of Fortune. Now I turn it like I'm cracking a safe.

* I need to practice social-distancing from the refrigerator.

* Still haven't decided where to go for Easter ----- The Living Room or The Bedroom

* Public Service Announcement: every few days try your jeans on just to make sure they fit. Pajamas will have you believe all is well in the kingdom.

* Homeschooling is going well. 2 students suspended for fighting and 1 teacher fired for drinking on the job.

* I don't think anyone expected that when we changed the clocks we'd go from Standard Time to the Twilight Zone * This morning I saw a neighbor talking to her cat. It was obvious she thought her cat understood her. I came into my house, told my dog..... we laughed a lot. * So, after this quarantine.....will the producers of My 600 Pound Life just find me or do I find them?

* Quarantine Day 5: Went to this restaurant called THE KITCHEN. You have to gather all the ingredients and make your own meal. I have no clue how this place is still in business.

* My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant lately that when I pee it cleans the toilet.

* Day 5 of Homeschooling: One of these little monsters called in a bomb threat. * Classified Ad: Single man with toilet paper seeks woman with hand sanitizer for good clean fun.

* Day 6 of Homeschooling: My child just said "I hope I don't have the same teacher next year".... I'm offended.

* Better 6 feet apart than 6 feet under

A little humor from Lea Long.

1920s Fashion for Men 1920S FASHION HISTORY· MENS FASHIONS HISTORY

1920s men’s fashion was the start of menswear as we know it today.  It was a time of classic sophistication with a level of fun that has gone by the wayside in favor of more and more casual modern clothing. 1920s men’s fashion colors were mostly neutral with patterns, but the accessories popped with vibrant colors– just like they did for women’s 1920s fashion. Popular TV shows, such as Peaky Blinders,  Boardwalk Empire and Downton Abbey, have brought back the appeal for 1920s men’s fashion today. There is an extensive amount of detailed 1920s men’s fashion history articles on this website as well as links to new 1920s vintage inspired clothing to create your own outfit. Here is a brief rundown of 1920s men’s fashion history with links to more 1920s men’s fashion history and shopping.

1920S MEN’S SUITSThe essential part of a 1920s man’s wardrobe was his suit. For day, evening, work, or parties, a man always wore a suit. The only exceptions were for blue-collar workers, sport players or young teen and college men who dressed more casually, but even they owned second-hand and often mismatched suits and wore them with pride.

Dapper men in suits and boater hats

What sets 1920s men’s suits apart from other decades are the materials and how they fit. Suits were mostly made of thick wool, wool tweed, mohair, wool flannel and corduroy that made them heavier than today’s suit materials but lighter than the previous decades. Suit jackets were either single or double breasted and featured 3 or 4 buttons up the front. The top button came to the center of the heart, giving way to notch lapels that grew wider each year. The height of the suit lapels is what really sets 1920s suits apart from suits of other eras. When buttoned, jackets would completely cover vests exposing only the shirt collar and necktie.

Poco Quatros Model A Ford ClubMay Activities

Even with the coronavirus in New Mexico, our club was still able to have two activities in May.

On May 2 twelve Model A’s, 24 club members and numerous modern cars caravanned to Pete

Cosper’s home and drove around his house to help him celebrate is 96th birthday. Arrangements were made to have the Tome fire department units also drive around his house. This was a complete surprise to him. He was out on his front porch and was waving to everyone. Happy Birthday, Pete.

Some club members and guests then drove to Mountainair to have lunch outdoors at the Mustang Diner.

On May 3 we had another drive-by. This time to Chuck Ryff’s home in Rio Rancho. Once again there were twelve Model A’s, 24 club members and some modern cars.

Later, the majority of us drove to a Sonic ice cream drive thru (including Chuck & Charlotte) and enjoyed an ice cream treat.
