outside of the studio all summer, and still have 3 more weddings for the year.

c) District or PPW responsibilities - What is happening? Working on ideas for the fun party right now.

d) In what area(s) do I need help, mentoring, or support? Would love assistance on the rebranding e) What is one goal I have for my district/job for this year? Get the rebranding under way

Preparing for the Fall Seminar class on Business principles of Finance, generally helping on the 2020 Conference team. Busy with the Executive Board bi-weekly meetings. I was active in the decision making related to the Student Scholarship. d) In what area(s) do I need help, mentoring, or support? I need more time e) What is one goal I have for my Board job for this year? Complete the committee mentorship descriptions and seal a good working relationship with the committee chairs assigned to me. Mark Gardner a) Personal Life – Life’s good, but has been extremely busy this summer with Dona doing art festivals and stocking her galleries, b) Studio Life – It has been a very busy summer with portraits, weddings and some commercial work. Then fall hit, with school and sports photos on Orcas and San Juan Islands, senior portraits, etc. Have been slammed since early September. I made the mistake of trying to switch labs for the volume work,

wasted a lot of time and retreated back to my old lab. c) District or PPW responsibilities – Not able to spend too much time on this lately, but have finishing a draft of the Marketing Chair purpose and responsibilities, and reviewing the ED contract.

d) In what area(s) do I need help, mentoring, or support?- I think I’m figuring this out.

e) What is one goal I have for my district/job for this year? – Contribute as Secretary and as a member to the success of PPW. In particular, revamping and defining the Marketing Chair, Social Media Manager and Webmaster of Design purposes, responsibilities and processes. And then getting those positions filled.

Bruce Hudson We had our NW District meeting last night with 15 participating. We were very happy with the turnout! One was a non-member (past) member ready to join again! I've attached the thank you letter sent out today & up-coming events flyer they got last night.

We just wanted to take a moment to say thanks for being a part of our Professional Photographers of Washington Northwest District meeting last night! We hope you enjoyed the valuable information that Geoffrey Purkis shared about SEO. As you could tell, he is a certified GENIUS! For those of you that were non-members, we’d love the opportunity to meet with you and answer any questions you might have about PPW. Feel free to contact us at the studio (206.687.7283) or Bruce at [email protected] Thanks again for coming. Bruce & Josh Hudson

One thought I have pertains to page 2 of the Tips for Success guide under Communication. "district reps shall regularly contact non members......" This is great in theory, but where do the reps get the

contact information of non-members? This is where PPW needs to focus time, energy and $$$$$, to create a list. We last year, we started to put one together using this list from nearby states for the convention, but we need to do more in this area of marketing PPW. This goes back to the re-branding of PPW, NEW website, ETC. Just a thought and to me and the Major Priority for our organization. It was discussed this weekend but with no direction moving forward.

Mary Ann Breshears a) Personal Life –Life is going very well and new grandbaby is doing well after scare a few weeks ago. Can honestly say I can’t wait for Christmas as we will have all of our family together for the first time in 7 years! b) Studio Life –We have had the busiest 3rd quarter on record. I think both Rich and I were going for all we were worth for a few days, we both had 5 sittings/view and order appointments a day for one entire week. Thank goodness for our new employees, they have been stellar. c) District or PPW responsibilities –I had a barbeque at our portrait park and had 10 people in attendance. Also had a IPC review party - that was awesome! d) At the moment I believe all is going well.I sure do wish I could figure out how to get more people to attend PPW events! e) What is one goal I have for my district/job for this year? I plan to grow the membership with paying members! f) Tell us how you have done in completing your quarterly goals. We have 3 new members from last quarter but none in the 3rd quarter. -I plan on having another print critique to get more interest going. -Also we have a local public park with a large demonstration garden that gets tons of photographers, but the master gardeners is very frustrated with the abuse the garden is taking, they have come to realize that photographers need guidance. Some photographers and their clients do not understand that accessories like sequins, confetti, plastic decorations and fabric flower petals can make wonderful visual effects, but they are litter that is very difficult to remove. Also walking through planting beds compresses the soil so it is best to stay on the paths. So the idea, which I have to give Rich credit for, is to create a flyer that can be widely disseminated to photographers across the Tri-Cities that explains the "rules of the road" to protect the garden for everyone's benefit. This flyer will also contain my contact information as a professional they can reach out to. It has gotten so bad that the garden has a volunteer working every day from noon to dusk and this volunteer and will be passing the flyer out to every photographer who uses the garden. I am hopeful that this will aid in getting more to up their level of professionalism and

move towards the world of PPW!

Eastern District Rep #2: Submitted

a) Personal Life - What is going on in my family, personal, health? Kids are good, family is good, life is good.

b) Studio Life - What is happening in my studio? I’m having more success in marketing through Google SEO. I’ve received strong and practical advice from our monthly meetings.

c) District or PPW responsibilities - What is happening? There was a plan, at the beginning of the year, to develop a competition pamphlet that simplified the submission process for competition. This has shifted to mentoring new people through PPW monthly meetings. The rules are the rules, and we can’t simplify without compromising experience. But…it’s a fantastic reason to get everyone together and help each other out. 1. I’m at an end point for cataloguing the PPW benefits. These are actionable benefits district reps can use right away with new members or as selling points. They are written out, and they may be a great addition/resource to the website, or for when we’re introducing new reps. I’m open to ideas. 2. I’ve contacted the two big local camera clubs and I’m offering free services to help their members evaluate, select and enter digital entries into the 2020 conference. I’d love to get 20 cases, but we’ll see. 3. We’ve had two more member meetings. One in August for Blogging/SEO and one is Sept as a round table discussion on the PPA consumer survey. We keep these informal, have someone lead or do a small presentation, and then everyone participates. They have been great. 4. I’m pulling back on promoting the PPW blog and shifting my efforts to vendors for the 2020 Spring Conference. There is no interest in the blog. However, I’m now ranking on Google, and I contribute a chunk of that directly to the PPW blog. It gave my business the starting credibility my own site didn’t have. I’m going to continue using it, and if anyone you know expresses interest, then send them my way and I’ll help them out. 5. I’ll helping out with the Fall Conference with a little speaking, and I’ll be in Olympia on Oct 22nd for a night shoot presentation – weather permitting. We have one or two new members since July, but more importantly, Chris Wooley and I have been reaching out, and I’m sensing a rising level of PPW interest from the local community

Sept 20, had a conference call with the staff and had only a handful join me. Will do another one later to bring the rest up to speed.
