Definition and HistoryTheINTERNET is a network ofcomputers, which links many different

types of computers all over the world. ARPANET was the first WAN and hadonly four sites in 1969.

In 1989, the U.S. government liftedrestrictions on the use ofINTERNET,and allow its usage for commercial

purposes as well.

user interference of the search engine. The search engine then searches the requested informationon the WWW and returns the results to the user.

Results enable the user to locate the requested quicklyfrom the last ocean of information available on the internet.
