Simon: Hi, Abigail. It’s Simon. How’s life in Detroit?

Abigail: Terrible! It’s freezing here.

Simon: That’s too bad. The weather’s great in Sydney. I’m on Bondi Beach right now!

Structure: Adverb of Frequency

Adverbs of Frequency are Adverbs of Time that answer the question "How frequently?" or

"How often?" They tell us how often something happens.

Adverb of frequency: always, often, usually, rarely, never, every week, sometimes etc.

We often use them with simple present verbs.

1. They come between the subject and the verb.

Subject Adverb of Frequency Verb

I usually go swimming.

I always have in the afternoons.

Example: -I usually go swimming.

- I always have class in the afternoons.

2. We put adverbs of frequency after the verb be.

Subject Simple Present of Be Adverb of Frequency

Abigail Is never late.

She Is always on time.

Example: - Abigail is never late.

- she is always on time.

Activity 1 (Practice 1) Unscramble words Direction:

1. Make a group of three people.

2. Each group gets the letter cards from the teacher.

3. The teacher opens the scrambled word on the Power Point.

4. Then the teacher signals by counting 1-3, students raise their hands. The fastest group gets

the chance to unscramble the word in the sentence to correct form.

then ask the question to the student B;

(Then student B picks the next question card and asks the student C.)
