    2.1 Vulnerable Group: Those with limited autonomy, ability or incapacity to make decisionsin their own best interests such as children, elderly, and persons with physical incapacitythat needs special attention and protection

    3. POLICY

    3.1 Gulf Diagnostic Center Hospital is committed to protect all patients from physical assaultduring their stay in the hospital.

    4. SCOPE

    3.1 Protecting vulnerable children, disabled individuals and elderly in Gulf Diagnostic Center

    Hospital.

    5. RESPONSIBILITY

    6. PROCEDURE

    6.1. Nurses and other health care providers will identify vulnerable groups that require special

    care and protection and the following procedure will be followed:6.1.1 Pediatrics:6.1.1.1 Hospital administration permits an escort to stay with the patient.6.1.1.2 On admission, the staff nurse provides the patient with identity band on

    their wrist.6.1.1.3 Upon discharge, the nurse will remove the identity band of the patient.

    6.1.2.1 Hospital administration permits an escort to stay with the patients whenneeded.6.1.2.2 The staff nurse will identify them in the wards and make sure that they arenursed appropriately.

    6.1.2.3 Families are encouraged to participate in their nursing management.6.1.2.4 A specific measures have to be taken to protect them from falls as per FallReduction Policy.

    6.1.3 Staff responsibility:6.1.3.1 A staff nurse should accompany the treating doctor during examiningfemales, children and elederly patients.6.1.3.2 The staff nurse will not allow an unidentified person to examine/treat thepatients during their stay.6.1.3.3 After visiting hours, security/PRO asks unauthorized people to leave thehospital.6.1.3.4 Gulf Diagnostic Center Hospital security will monitor the remote andisolated areas of the service.

    6.1.4 Hospital responsibility:6.1.4.1 Directional signs will be available to lead all the wards and reflect the flowof traffic.6.1.4.2 Exit Signs are required at emergency exits.6.1.4.3 Doors will be attended by the security staff to control visitors.6.1.4.5 Security will arrange regular rounds for remote areas of the premises.6.1.4.6 Security to check regularly the presence of unauthorized individuals.6.1.2.7 Patient transferred within the hospital o be accompanied by a designatedstaff.

    6.1.5 When an assault is suspected or happened in the area:6.1.5.1 Take immediate action to correct problem or prevent further harm when

    possible.6.1.5.2 Contact the security office and customer services.6.1.5.3 Inform the immediate in charge/manager.6.1.5.4 Customer service and security officer to proceed immediately to theneedful.6.1.5.5Security in charge conveys the information to the administration Security incharge.

    6.1.5.6 If security staff and customer relation officer cant control the situation,security in charge will call Abu Dhabi police after obtaining permission from theconcerned administrative personnel.6.1.5.7 Assigned staff will submit an incident report.
