Long-Range Facilities Committee Purpose

• The Facilities Committee worked collaboratively to develop acomprehensive prioritized list of facility needs that addressprojected improvements of existing facilities, whilestrategically planning for long-range facilities programming.

• The purpose of the report is to present the results of thisstudy. It is important to note that this is a working documentthat provides for planning flexibility. It is designed toaccommodate refinements due to maintenance requirements,educational program needs, district growth and feedback fromkey stakeholders.

Steps in the Process

• A “staff input evaluation form” was developed and utilized to obtaina comprehensive scope of baseline information on nine categoriesfor each facility.

• Building administration and staff supervisors for Food Service,Maintenance, Transportation and Technology facilitated a processto garner feedback from their respective staff members. Thisinformation was then synthesized by District Administration and thearchitectural firm.

• This process identifies the SCOPE of projected needs. Budgetaryestimates are projected for each item within the document. It isimportant to note that as we progress through this plan, BUDGETPARAMETERS will define the SCOPE for each project.

Example of Long-Range Facility Master Planning Recommendations

• Existing Rolla Public School Facilities are quality facilities that should bemaintained, upgraded and updated through comprehensive planning.

• Early Childhood education program needs warrant the consideration of an EarlyChildhood Facility as a component of the long-range facility plan.

• Co-curricular program needs warrant the consideration of a Performing Arts Facilityas a component of the long-range facility plan.

• Co-curricular program needs warrant the consideration of upgrading all athleticfacilities. Upgrades include: parking expansion, field improvements, storage facilityexpansion and bleacher and concession/restroom facility improvements.

• The Rolla Public Schools should consider acquiring land for future growth with siteplanning and programming to be determined through comprehensive planning andcommunity input.
