PARENT/STUDENT HEALTH CHECK PROCESS

Each student's parent/guardian must attest daily that their student does not have symptoms of COVID-19 and has not been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days. (Students in grades 6-12 who are able to attest for themselves may do so.)

• Parent uses Health Check app/ website daily (6th-12th graders can do their own)

• Designated school staff reviews resulting spreadsheet to find those who did not attest or attested positive symptoms

• Follow-up to be done in first hour of school

• By Car• Parents/guardians remain in their cars. Staff members meet students at the

cars and direct students to designated entry or waiting area. (Note: young children may need to be escorted by a parent in the first days to the entry)

• By Bus• Staff meet buses and ensure staggered entry/release from buses to

designated entry or designated waiting area

• Walking/Bicycle• Students walk to designated entry or designated waiting area• Recommend having walkers/bicyclers arrive at a different time than bus riders

• Late Arrivals • Late arrivals will enter through the main office. Physical barriers, such as glass

or plastic partitions, are set up to reduce exposure to the COVID-19 virus

Facilities will ensure:• Social distance markers be placed on side-walks outside

every entry door.• Hand sanitizing stations be accessible near every main

entrance/exit.

Schools will ensure:• Students are assigned specific doors for entry and

staggered entry times to support physical distancing (ex. by class, grade level or breakfast/non-breakfast).

• Extra masks be available at each door to ensure everyone entering has access to a mask.

• Assign all available, non-classroom teaching staff (admin, classified and cert) to supervise entry ways, cafeterias, drop off and hallways

Entry Points

• In order to serve meals in the safest, most efficient way possible way, we will use the lunchroom as well as other non-traditional spaces such as gyms, covered outdoor areas and larger rooms.

• Lunch tables will be set up in designated areas with seats marked for physical distancing. 3 students per 12’ table.

• Schools should designate alternate lunch areas to accommodate total number of students efficiently and ensuring physical distancing.

• Spots will be placed on the floor to identify proper physical distancing when in line

• Nutrition Services will:

• Serve students food and pre-wrapped, disposable spork kit. There will be no self-serve bar.

• Wear a disposable face mask (per L&I guidelines) and shield (optional), along with disposable gloves at the time of meal service

• Breakfast & Lunch are free for all students through December. If a child wants milk, they can take milk with 2 other items for free.

• Hard trays for cafeteria; compostable trays for alternate locations

Facilities will:• Set up each classroom for the actual class size for that

class. (Teachers/admin should work with facilities if any questions/concerns arise.) Our most common class size capacity is 16; however, we can accommodate classes that exceed 16 on case-by-case basis in collaboration with facilities. In some cases, we may need to move classes into bigger rooms.

Facilities & Custodial Staff will:• Clean and disinfect classrooms daily• Clean and disinfect desks and chairs in K-2 classrooms daily as

well to support the initial launch of grades 1-2 followed by PreK & K in hybrid

Staff should:• Wipe surfaces during transitions during the day using the

Purell Surface Sanitizer Wipes provided in each classroom (It is recommended that you wash hands with soap and water after using Purell Surface Sanitizer)

• Key transition times include: • In the morning before students arrive • Between classes (if students change rooms and while students

are not present) • Between use of shared surfaces or objects • Before students return from recess or breaks • After students leave for the day

Facilities will:• Ensure sanitizer stations are placed at doors to playground

Staff will:• Encourage handwashing or sanitizing before and after recess• Teach new playground routines

Administrators/BLT should:• Split the playground into quadrants• Schedule recess with classes rotating quadrants• Ensure adequate supervision

Other:• Playground equipment (ex. big toys) is okay for student use• Students do not need to wear masks outdoors, but should be taught to pay attention to physical distancing

Health & Safety• Bus drivers to have 8 oz spray bottles to sanitize student’s hands when they

come aboard• Students will be seated one student per seat, two maximum when necessary.

Bus ventilation will be kept on and windows opened

Cleaning• Foggers with approved cleaners will be used for sanitation after morning and

evening runs by the driver• Between schools, drivers will sanitize high touch areas with approved wipes.

Health Screenings• Will be conducted once students get to school• Screening at bus stops creates challenges including increased loading time,

supervision issues
