• My magazine uses real conventions like professional music magazines. It does this as it has a similar format to other professional music magazine I have analysed (Kerrang, Q). My model on the front overlaps the title slightly. The title is featured at the top. The double page spread has pictures of featured musician. As well as format it uses other conventions, these are, the photographs. There are many photographs in my magazine, and in them I have made my model look like a professional music artist by having her pose with hands signs, and good mise en scene, such as musical props. I have also kept the backgrounds rather plain, but interesting. On my photographs I did use photo editing, this was to brighten (or darken) my photo to make it more visually appealing, also I removed any spots (if there were any) and in one case changed the a colour of an item of clothing so that it would match the colour scheme. Other conventions my magazine also uses include, the same fonts used throughout all the pages, and repeated colour schemes which are always used in music magazines. Because of all these factors it is clear my magazine is apart of the music genre.

I think a media institution like the Bauer Media group would publish my magazine. As they publish other music magazines full of fashionable music aimed towards teenagers. My magazines would be published in shops, such as corner shops newsagents, and larger shops like tescos. My magazine would sell better as a physical magazine, then app, due to the old style fashion of my preferred audience group. As the chart below shows, the sales of magazines are dropping, but thousands are still being sold. In fact, if my magazine were to be published, I am sure that the actual sales of magazines would go up.

My magazines main audience is young teenagers of any gender. My ideal readership would be young teenagers, who are very ‘hip’ and have lots of money. Preferably a specific group of teenagers who believe that my magazine is ‘undiscovered genius’ and that all the music featured in the magazine is ‘original’ and ‘unique’ and amazingly, ‘contemporary’. My ideal readership would not listen to the radio. They would listen to only their home made playlists, the illegibility of which would be questionable.

I attracted my audience by using a dark colour scheme, eye grabbing subheadings, big titles, and bright colours. I also immediately grabbed my audience attention by featuring some well know, and lesser known musicians. I choose a layout on the magazine that I felt would be best. I chose the costume for my model to wear to look somewhat common, and in some photos uncommon, with big stylish glasses.

• To create my product I started with research. I researched different music magazines, the front covers, the contents, the double page spread. I quickly drafted several optional ways I could have my own magazine look with inspiration from my research magazine. Next I shot my own photographs. I took photos using a digital fukifilm camera. I was already aware of how to use this camera, however I did learn that putting the flash on, was a very bad idea. I used photoshop. I edited my photographs so that they were not ugly. I did this by removing any disgusting marks on my models face. I  brightening and changing the contrast so that the colours in the photograph were visually pleasing. On occasion I also removing hideous colours from certain items of clothing. I then made my first version of the magazine.  then quickly improved this in a second version. I then quickly fixed anything in my second version that didn’t work or needed fixing, or the colours changing, and made my final version of the magazine.

• I have learnt that the conventions of musical magazine, are all very similar. They are all almost exactly the same but that of the colour of the words and angle of the title, and font. I have learnt a lot since doing the student magazines, such as all magazines are stupidly simple, and they are not allowed to be complicated, as all that is unique in a magazine comes singularly from the writing inside it. From my first sketches on how I was going to do this magazine, has evolved immensely for the best.
