INTRODUCTION

Communication is a learned skill. Communication skills can be studied directly

through education. Introducing English the children at early age will

give many advantage to them. Elizabeth Tierny (1998) describes

communications as a process which begins when you have a message that you want to deliver to an audience.

Joseph Devito (2009) says that communication occurs when one person or more sends and receive messages that are disorted by noise, occur within a context, have some effect, and provide some opportunity for feedback.

English is a global language. Everyone should learn English in order to

face the world because English have been used widely around the globe.

HOW ORAL COMMUNICATION WORKS

Communication is an important part in our lives.

Communication enables us to improve our skills at interacting with people.

People who are good communicators tend to do better in their careers.

English oral communication skills are essential to success.

People should major in oral communication skills in order to become competent in communicating with the rest of the world.

Communication requires a sender, a message and also a receiver.

The communication process is complete once the receiver has understood the sender.

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

Interpersonal communication is communication that involve between one people to another.

Interpersonal communication help people to understand what someone says in a given context.

Establish an identity. The roles people play in their relationships help them to establish identity.

SMALL GROUP COMMUNICATION

Small group can be define as three people or not more then fifteen members in one group.

Group members must be able to communicate freely and openly with all members.

A group must have their own goal and they must work together to achieve it.

Before make any decision, group members need to follow six step guide called the "standard agenda."

1. Problem identification 2. Problem identification 3. Criteria selection 4. Solution generation 5. Solution evaluation and selection 6. Solution implementation

Brainstorming also can help in the decision making process.

Group members can generate ideas and solutions.

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION ( OR PUBLIC SPEAKING )

In public speaking a speaker present a message to large audience in a unique context.

Watzlawick, Beavin & Jackson ( 1967 ) said that like all forms of communication, public speaking is transactional.

When a speech given, you do most of the speaking and the listeners do most of the listening.

Communication is important ability that everyone should learn.

Nowadays, English is important global language that people should learn.

By learning the complex communication skills of listening and oral, one can increase the ability to understand lectures in class or in study group.
