Power of the Eye Photographs By: Steve McCurry and Zoe Law
Steve McCurry was born on April 23rd, 1950, making him 64 years old. Steve McCurry has been one of the most famous and iconic photographers round the world. He is well known for his photos that are used fro the covers of Time Magazine and for National Geographic. Steve McCurry studied at Pennsylvania State University. Steve McCurry, originally, wanted to be a documentary filmmaker. Steve McCurry worked at his college’s newspaper where he discovered his passion for photography. Steve McCurry is well known for his amazing travels and his exotic pictures of people. He says that India is the country that has stolen his heart the most because of it’s rich culture and diverse religions.
Steve McCurry has learned over his years of experience what light to use in order to create a good picture, he tries never to stage his photos and have the subjects unaware of his photos of them. According to Steve McCurry’s blog, he is currently residing in Afghanistan where he is taking pictures of people with their beautiful eyes and beautiful faces. He is also traveling to Tibet and India where he must be continuing his work on the album Eloquence of the Eye.
Zoe Law was born on October 31st, 1997. She is a seventeen-‐year-‐old high school student at Park Tudor. Zoe had always loved drawing and painting so she gave photography a try. Zoe takes Photography 1 and has found a true passion for taking photos and editing them. Zoe Law is “well known” for her pictures that extenuate the eyes.
This book is a collaborative work between two photographers, Zoe Law and Steve McCurry. This book previews works from both Zoe Law and Steve McCurry. The theme Power of the Eye describes the ideal that the eyes are the window to the soul and that life isn’t complete without a little play. The pictures in this book will express these themes in pictures of everyday life in exotic, and not-‐so-‐exotic, places and the beautiful eyes of beautiful people.
