INTRODUCTION

What is a piezoelectricity and piezoelectric material ?• Piezein is Greek for stress or squeeze.• Piezoelectricity is the electric charge that accumulates in certain

solid materials in response to applied mechanical stress.• Piezoelectric materials are ceramics ,crystal or group of crystals

that generate electricity when they are stressed.Main types include:• Crystals (eg., quartz).• Ceramics(eg., lead zirconite titanate).

Piezoelectric transducer- Converts mechanical stress to electrical energy.

Power bank- used to store electric charges and supply it to devices.

Rectifier – Used to convert AC to DC. Wires- Wires are used for electrical connections.

Piezoelectric shoe works on the principle of conversion of change in stress into electrical energy.

When pressure acts on the piezoelectric material, it causes deformation, which causes a shift in the charge. When the pressure/mechanical energy is removed, the charge will return to normal.

The generated electrical energy will then be used as a source to produce voltage of the battery cell phone charger, mini power bank, etc.

Rectifier converts AC into DC. Four diode bridge rectifier is used to convert AC to

full wave DC. Capacitors can be used for smoothening the output signal

Advantages: Lesser parts and simple in fabrication. Low cost power generating accessory. They are eco friendly. Unaffected by external electromagnetic field.

Limitations: Comparatively low power generation. Input to output ratio is less. Cannot harvest mechanical energy wasted in the form of heat

energy.
