Power Exchange

PowerExchange Change Data Capture (CDC) works in conjunction with PowerCenter

to capture changes to data in source tables and replicate those changes to target

tables or fles.

Following modes to extract relational and nonrelational data

! Bulk data movement.

"se P#$ batch application and relational connections to extract and

load data %or relational databases and nonrelational data sets and

fles through PowerExchange• Change data capture (CDC) real time

"se P#$ CDC &eal 'ime connections %or inux"*+$ and #indows sources

mode.• CDC batch extraction mode from condense les

"se P#$ CDC Change connections to extract changed data %rom condense

fles in batch extraction mode. Power Exchange stops the extraction a%ter

the data %rom all condense fles is read.

1. o!er"xchange CDC Components, ultiple PowerExchange components are in-ol-ed in change data capture

processing.

1.1. o!er"xchange #istener

'he Power Exchange istener coordinates acti-ities across sstems initiates

re/uests or processes re/uests. 0andles all tasks that use capture registrations

and extraction maps.

Capture registration is used to identi% and also whether to use Power Exchange

Condense %ull or partial processing o% change data columns in a source table %or

which to capture changes. 1n extraction map is a defnition o% a change data

extraction %or a source table. Power Exchange generates an extraction map

when ou create a capture registration. #hen ou create capture registrations

%or the D23 source tables or per%orm database row tests in the Power Exchange

*a-igator select the node name %or the remote sstem in the ocation feld.

1.$. o!er"xchange Condense

PowerExchange Condense captures change data and stores the data in condense

fles. 'he condense fles store onl the success%ull completed "4#s in

chronological order b end time. #hen an extraction session runs the data is

extracted %rom the condense fles rather than %rom the change stream. +% ouadd or edit capture registrations ou must restart the PowerExchange Condense

job to acti-ate the additional or changed registrations.

1.%. o!er"xchange &avigator

 'he PowerExchange *a-igator is a #indows graphical user inter%ace %rom which

ou create and maintain capture registrations and extraction maps. 5ou can also

defne data maps i% ou need to do column6le-el processing such as building

expressions to populate user6defned columns. 'he PowerExchange *a-igator

automaticall generates a corresponding extraction map.

$. o!er"xchange Condense 'vervie!PowerExchange Condense 4-er-iew #hen ou create a capture registration %or a

data source ou must set the Condense option to Full or Part to indicate the

tpe o% condense processing. +% ou select Full PowerExchange Condense uses

%ull condense processing. PowerExchange Condense records onl the last change

made to a row in a condense fle. +% multiple changes are made to the same row

later changes o-erride earlier changes. +% ou select the Part option

PowerExchange Condense uses partial condense processing. +t does not

eliminate an change. During a partial condense ccle PowerExchange

Condense writes all o% the changes %or success%ull completed "4#s tocondense fles in chronological order b "4# end time
