There was a slight reduction from 21.1% in2006 to 20.9% in 2009

incidence among families from 2006 to 2009, in
terms of poverty incidence among population,there was a very slight increase from 26.4% in2006 to 26.5 in 2009

Number of Poor Families
While there was a decrease in the poverty incidenceamong families, in terms of poverty incidence amongpopulation, there was a very slight increase from26.4% in 2006 to 26.5 in 2009.
There was an increase of about 185,000 poor familiesfrom 3.67 million in 2006 to 3.86 million in 2009. Onthe other hand, the magnitude of poor populationincreased by almost 970,000 Filipinos from 22.2
million in 2006 to 23.1 in 2009. Meanwhile, the magnitude of subsistence poor families
decreased by about 58,000 from 1.51 million in 2006to 1.45 million in 2009.

Income Gap
The income gap decreased by 1.5 percentagepoints from 27.2 percent in 2006 to 25.7 in2009.
This means that the income of the poor in 2009would need to be increased by 25.7 percent ofthe poverty threshold (around P4,328 perperson) for them to become non-poor.
