EXCELLENCE INNOVATION SUCCESS COMMUNITY POTTSVILLEBEACH PUBLIC SCHOOL Wednesday 25 September 2019 Term 3 Week 10 PRINCIPAL NEWS Dear Parents and Carers As we come to the end of a busy term, teachers and learners look forward to the break to consolidate their learning and take the time to reflect on a term well done. We look forward to welcoming you to our upcoming Parent Information evening on Thursday 17th October at 6.00pm - We hope to see you there! Our parent session will provide an opportunity to showcase all of the things we are excited about in transforming learning and culture at our school. So in continuing to build our teachers as learners and develop strong pedagogy for ‘what works best’ in education, we are looking at the benefits of growth mindset and the work of Carol Dweck as well as best feedback techniques with research by Shirley Clarke. In doing so we have organised for our learners a myriad of wonderful experiences in both extra curricula and wellbeing activities at this time of year. These activities are ‘rewards days’ without calling them ‘rewards days’. We will endeavour to post YouTube and other articles on our website so that if you are keen to read more you will have access to some of the readings and professional development we are engaged in. A community of learners. So much is always happening at Pottsville Beach Public School to ensure your children have a variety of fun learning activities that keep them engaged and happy at school. On behalf of the entire school, we wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday break. Kind Regards Trish Fisher Relieving Principal Have you wondered why we have changed some of the language at the school around ‘students’ and ‘learners’ when we refer to the children? A ‘student’ has been described as a person who attends an institution, so they can just turn up, however a ‘learner’ is someone who engages in learning. A slight rewording that supports a growth mindset. PRINCIPAL NEWSDear Parents and Carers

As we come to the end of a busy term, teachers and learners look forward to the break to consolidate their learning and take the time to reflect on a term well done.

We look forward to welcoming you to our upcoming Parent Information evening on Thursday 17th October at 6.00pm - We hope to see you there! Our parent session will provide an opportunity to showcase all of the things we are excited about in transforming learning and culture at our school.
