Despite the brazen man-ner in which a sus-pended head constabledetained a superinten-

dent of police on Wednesdaymaking the entire governmentmachinery run for cover, no casehas been registered.

Police transport organisa-tion’s SP E Laxminarayana wasdetained in a shop reportedlyowned by suspended head con-stable KN Giriprsada Sharmanear Haca Bhawan, AdarshNagar. It is said that the SP wentinto Sharma’s shop after the lat-ter summoned him.

The head constable relentedonly when the DGP spoke to him

on phone and asked to meet him.The issue reached the home min-istry too.

When Postnoon contactedDCP Central Zone Tarun Joshi,he said that Sharma wasdetained but not arrested. It issaid that Sharma has filed aLokayukta case against the SPand the officer was alleged to beeager to settle it.

Sharma was head constablewith PTO for the past few yearsand he was suspended by theadditional SP Vijay Kumar eightmonths ago for many malpractices.

After this incredible incidentthat put the whole policemachinery to shame, theSaifabad police did not book aserious case against Sharmawhich has raised many eyebrowsin the constabulary.

It is difficult to believe that ahigh-ranking police officer withtwo armed guards for personalsafety was held hostage for sixlong hours. It is also not clearhow a police personal owns ashop.

Meanwhile, Sharma met theDGP today and pleaded his case.

Even hours after the hostage drama involving a head constable and a superintendent of police thatshocked the City came to an end, the head constable is yet to be arrested.

Imagine if an overseas guestparticipating in the CBDwants to see some parks ofHyderabad and he chooses

the bamboo park on Road No 36in Jubilee Hills which is not farfrom HICC. What he will wit-ness will ruin the image ofHyderabad and India.

Situated in a prime locality,it is one of the important themeparks open to general public.Opened in the year 2000, thebamboo park is in shambles. The craftsmen and artistes whodeveloped the park are likely toshed tears after witnessing thecurrent pathetic condition of thepark. Spread over 6,000 squarefeet, this park should have beena prided asset zealously guarded by any municipal corporation.

This important park is not inthe GHMC's beautification list! The park has now been turnedinto a place for idlers anddrunkards. One of the reasons isthe close proximity of a wineshop. According to GHMCworkers, these elements havedamaged and stolen all thewooden artefacts, includingwooden benches and woodenplanks over the streams. “Anight watchman is posted buthe is helpless in controlling theelements," they say.

With the Jubilee Hills policestation close-by, the park hasalso become a place to 'lounge'for litigants to settle disputes.

The beautiful water pondsthat should have providedhome to water lilies is now areceiving point for drainagewater. Streams that carried freshwater now carry this drainagefrom one point to another point.“It has become a mosquitobreeding ground,” points outthe worker, while showing herhand bitten by mosquitoes.

Maintained by the UrbanForestry department under theGHMC, the park is under thejurisdiction of the same officialwho takes care of other parks inJubilee Hills Check post. “Weshall be developing the park inthe near future,” is the onlyresponse of the official. It isbelieved that the in-chargerarely visits the park. Accordingto the forest range officer,Venkataiah the park is wellmaintained and various vari-eties of bamboos are being takencare of by the GHMC. But noth-ing to his claim could be seen.

The people residing in thearea opine that the park undercontinued neglect may end upin the hands of a land shark.“Several open spaces meant forpark have already beenencroached in the areas ofBanjara and Jubilee Hills. Maybe, it is one of the reasons this

being an open space was turnedinto a park. But what is the use, when no one enjoy the beauty,”laments, P Sharath, a regularvisitor.

The City has some 12 themeparks, under GHMC. This parkis under direct supervision ofGHMC. Even though the addi-tional commissioner, PAnuradha maintains that `8.6crore is being utilised for theCOP for parks and medians, thistheme park does not seem to bein the priority list.

The official maintains thatall the theme parks are getting afacelift, as part of the upcomingCOP, but no activity could beseen near the park, except anti-social elements. “Even this bamboo theme park is underrenovation. We have orderedspecial species of bamboos fromWest Bengal and Assam, theconsignment will arrive,”says P

Anuradha. According to the official

about 15 species of bambooswould be planted in the park in the next few days. Sherefutes the argument that theremight be someone who wouldtry to encroach the park. “Thepeople who live in the sur-rounding areas are descent,” is her reply.

Jubilee Hills park in ruins The bamboo park in Jubilee Hills, had everything to become a popular

spot, but littering and a lack of maintenance have left it in a state.

This park isunder renova-

tion. We’veordered specialspecies of bam-boos from Assam.

The TDP’s impending decisionof extending its support to thedemand for a separate

Telangana, is creating a flutteramong Seemandhra leaders in theparty. The party leaders are nowopenly expressing their displeasureover the TDP chief’s intention towrite a letter to the PM demandingTelangana state.

Majority of the leaders fromSeemandhra and Rayalaseemaregions are worried that the exten-sion of support to a separate T-statedemand would lead to exodus ofleaders and cadres from the partyto other political parties likeCongress and YSRC.

“As a public representativefrom Rayalaseema and as the firstperson to resign from my legislator-ship protesting division of the state,I clearly put forth my feelings and

viewpoints before our president. Irequested him not to support a sep-arate Telangana state,” TDP MLAfrom Anantapur district PayyavulaKeshav told Postnoon.

He, however, hastened to addthat despite his personal views, hewould abide by the party’s deci-sion. “To me the party’s interestsare paramount,” he said.

A senior leader of the party andpolitburo member, on the conditionof anonymity, said that the partywould suffer a huge political set-back in Andhra and Rayalaseemaregions if it extended support to T-

state. “A pro-T decision will literal-ly destroy the party in Rayalaseemaand Andhra regions. The Congressand YSRC parties would launch ascathing attack on us for support-ing division of state and provokepeople against us,” he said.

NAIDU UNMOVEDThe serious requests from TDP’sSeemandhra leaders are not mov-ing party president ChandrababuNaidu as he has made up his mindto support T-state. Naidu’s firmdecision is the result of the YSRC’semergence as a dominant force inAndhra and Rayalaseema regions.Naidu, who is desperately trying toget back to power, seems to havecome to the conclusion that he canbetter his chances by extendingsupport to T-state as the TDP hasstrong cadre in this region. Apartfrom this, the non-existence ofYSRC in Telangana will also helpTDP give TRS a tough competition.

He is perhaps theyoungest and mostactive ministers inthe State Cabinet. A

self-confessed workaholic, hismain aim is to render service tothe public. Minister for Statecivil supplies and legislativeaffairs, D Sridhar Babu, in afreewheeling chat with Postnoontalks about everything fromcontemporary politics to issuesrelated to governance and theupcoming Assembly session.Rubbishing rumours that hewill be made the next CM, heinsists that he is too young tohold the post and as of now hisaim is to make Karimnagar, hisnative district, the most prosperous place.Q:You held the higher educa-tion portfolio during KRosaiah’s tenure. But inKiran’s cabinet you were madethe civil supplies minister. Wasit your choice?

No. I did not choose thisministry. The CM allocated methis department as it is his prerogative.Q:You are holding a crucialportfolio in the State. Whatmeasures have you taken tocheck the growing inflation inthe State?

Well, inflation is a global

phenomenon. Though, the Stateis not directly responsible for it,as a responsible government,we have taken a lot of measuresto check inflation, especially inthe food sector. We have openedpremium quality rice distribu-tion centres in Rythu Bazaarsfor consumers. We are planningto open government superbazaars to provide essentialfood commodities at subsidisedrates to consumers of the State.Q:The Centre has directed theState to decentralise the publicdistribution system in procure-ment of rice. What progress hasthe State made towards this?

I must say, it’s a revolution-ary scheme to bring in trans-parency in the PDS. The Stategovernment has geared itself upto implement the decentralisa-tion system from the ensuingprocurement season scheduledto begin from October. We havealready held orientation for theofficials. We are planning toprocure 15 lakh metric tonnesfrom stakeholders in the firstyear. We are also taking the helpof FCI in its implementation. Q:Rumour mills are abuzz thatyou will become the CM in theevent of separate Telanganastate formation. What do youhave to say about it?

I don’t think so. Well, I amtoo young to be a chief minister. Moreover, I am not aspiring for

the CM’s post. I am immenselyhappy with what I have now. And, I am too occupied with myresponsibilities to think aboutsuch things.Q:The much awaitedAssembly session is beingheld in a few days. There arereports that the main opposi-tion TDP might move a NoConfidence Motion againstyour government apart fromraising other public problems?

Let them move the NoConfidence Motion. We arescared of the motion and arefully prepared to face it. Theydid it once earlier but could notsucceed in their attempts. As faras other problems like powercrisis is concerned, we don’tmind accepting our mistakes. But at the same time, we will tryto convince the people bytelling them the facts related tothe problems. Q:As a politician what is yourambition?

The ambition of my life is tomake my native placeKarimnagar the most prosper-ous district in the State. We havealready embarked upon thepath of development. The dis-trict has already achieved thenumber one of status in maizeand rice production. Apart fromthis, it has also become a hub forhigher education in the entirenorth Telangana region.

The Airport security does notbelieve in e-communication,nor does it believe much in

saving papers and thereby precioustrees.

Security system at the airport isyet to wake up to the universallyaccepted mobile messages. Thesecurity at the first gate insists on aprintout of the mail ticket. Busyexecutives and maiden fliers under-go much hassles and trouble withthe security if they show the mobilemessage.

Airline passengers say whenthey are in a hurry especially in adifferent city and rushing out to

catch the flight, the printout thing isbecoming a botheration. Adding totheir woes is the fact that most air-port routes are desolate areas where

kiosks or cafes are not available. Ifby some luck you get one, youshould be prepared to deal with ahiccupping system, waste anotherhalf hour, and shell out `15-20.

“I am a business executive and Ikeep travelling every alternativeday. I had the misfortune of notcoming with a printout once and Ihad to make frantic arrangementswith the airline office to give me aprintout at the last minute.

The security guards refused tohear my case, even though it wasperfectly acceptable to get in withan SMS confirmation,” says RaviPrasad.

Blogs are full of passengers’complaints who wanted the securi-ty to accept SMS message.

APSRTC SHOWS THE WAYThe security staff at the airportneeds to take a cue from APSRTCthat has done away with the print-ed ticket. So have private bus oper-ators. They all accept the mobileSMS as valid.

What then is the lesson learnt?Be on time and stick to the conven-tions. You may save the world bynot using paper, but you will notget there in time if you don’t shedpaper to save it in the first place.

On enquiry, the PRO at the air-port says, “If a person has to enterthe airport to board a flight, heneeds to have a printout with hisflight details and ticket bookingconfirmation. A message on thephone is not enough to get in.”

On entering NilouferHospital one will wonderif it’s a hospital or a rail-way platform. From the

entrance to the parking lot, patientsand their relatives are all over, try-ing to squeeze into the little avail-able space to catch a quick nap —sleep is out of the question. Onereason for this overcrowding is theoutbreak of dengue in Medak,Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar. All the affected children are beingshifted to Niloufer Hospital, whichremains the only government pae-diatric hospital in Hyderabad andRangareddy district.

Till Wednesday, the hospitalhad admitted 1,470 children whowere suffering from viral fever anddengue. But the hospital’s capacityis only 500. In the last 15 days fourdeaths have been registered.

“Since the last 15 days there hasbeen a sudden rise in dengue cases.Patients have come from other dis-tricts to our hospital but we haveonly a 500-bed capacity. Yet, wehave accommodated all of them. Atpresent we are trying to treat 1,000patients at one time,” said DrDaruru Ranganath, superintendent.

This year there has been a near-ly 40 per cent increase in denguecases. The heavy moisture contentin the atmosphere is the main cata-

told us that she was all right andthere is no need to admit her. Wetook her to King Koti governmenthospital where they refused to treather. Now we are back here andhave been living on the footpathoutside Niloufer Hospital,” saidAnusia K from Gajual.

Only the other day, TRS floorleader, Etela Rajender, had the otherday demanded that the Statedeclare a health emergency due tothe outbreak of dengue cases. “Thegovernment does not take anyinterest towards government hospi-tals.

In the districts there has been anoutbreak of viral fever, but the gov-ernment hospitals there are notequipped to treat them. When thepatients come here they are askedto leave, because the governmenthospitals do not have the capacityto treat them. This is a serious con-cern and something needs to bedone about this.”

“Dengue does not have any vac-cine yet and keeping the environ-ment clean is the only alternative. Most patients are between the agegroup of 3 to 5 years. Patients whocome to Hyderabad are sufferingfrom heavy bleeding, red rashes allover the body and shock. We givingthem medication and conducting aplatelet transfusion. There is nolack of blood in Hyderabad,” saidthe superintendent at NilouferHospital.

Wheels add to woes ofmodern man

Vehicles run on fossil fuel keep increasing and emerging economies like India, China are disregarding it’s environmental implications. Electric vehicles, solar-propelled vehicles and

other mode of non-pollutant vehicles alone can save the future. PK [email protected]

It seems frustrating. While onone hand scientific evidenceof Earth’s protective veneergetting destroyed due to

spiraling pollution is clear to theworld and talks are being heldamong nations to reduce pollutants, automobile produc-tion is growing in leaps andbound. Today, we have one carfor every seven people.

Production of passengervehicles (cars and light vehicles)rose from 74.4 million in 2010 to76.8 million in 2011 — and 2012may bring an all-time high of 80million or more vehicles, accord-ing to new research conductedby the Worldwatch Institute.Global sales of passenger vehicles increased from 75.4

million to 78.6 million over thesame period, with a projected81.8 million in 2012, writesreport author and Worldwatchsenior researcher MichaelRenner.

The major driver of increased production and sales are theeconomies, especially China andIndia. “Rising sales translate intoever-expanding fleets. An esti-mated 691 million passengercars were on the world’s roads in2011. When both light-andheavy-duty trucks are included, the number rises to 979 millionvehicles, which was 30 millionmore than just a year earlier.

By the end of 2012, the globalfleet could top 1 billion vehi-cles,” says Michael.

Electric vehicle (EV) production remains at barely perceptible levels. Although

several countries have issuedtargets for future EV fleets, itremains to be seen whether thesegoals can be met. China, for

instance, wants to put 5 millionplug-in hybrid-electric and fullyelectric vehicles on its roads by2020 — which could account formore than 40 per cent of theglobal EV fleets that year.

An analysis by DeutscheBank Climate Advisors, however, suggests that produc-tion of 1.1 million EVs and a fleetof 3.5 million in China is a more realistic projection.

“Automobiles are major contributors to air pollution andgreenhouse gas emissions,” saidRenner.

“Greater fuel efficiency, along with the use of cleanerfuels, can help mitigate theseimpacts, although increases inthe numbers of cars and the dis-tances driven threaten to over-whelm fuel economy advances,”he added.

n Approx. 1.3 million people getkilled on roads every year.

n 70 per cent of air pollution inChinese cities is from cars andtrucks.

n Obesity is linked to high levelsof car and truck pollution —diesel busses and trucks arethe worst.

n Cars pollute the air, water andland.

n Cars of China and the USAalone produce close to half ofthe world’s carbon dioxide.

Deadly facts

n Drive an electric car.

n Drive less. Walk more andgain health.

n Start a No Driving Day once aweek.

n Walk, bike, take the bus ortrain whenever possible.

n Save your petrol-powered carfor long trips.

What should be done?

Highlightsn The passenger vehicle fleet

in China grew at an annualaverage rate of 25 per centduring 2000-11, from fewerthan 10 million cars to 73million cars.

n The top four producers oflight vehicles — China, USA,Japan, and Germany —together account for morethan half of the global output.

n Hybrid vehicles are growingin number, but they remainbelow 2 per cent of the totalvehicle output.

SAN FRANCISCO: Apple onWednesday introduced a newiPhone 5 with a bigger screenand slimmer body that analystsquickly branded a sure hit forthe culture-changing tech giant.

Apple chief executive TimCook called the launch “thebiggest thing to happen toiPhone since the iPhone.”

The California companycalled the iPhone 5 “the thinnestsmartphone in the world,” witha glass and aluminium body thatis 18 per cent thinner and 20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S.

The new iPhone has a rich10-centimetre display prime forthe smartphone market, inwhich screen size is one of thekey factors important to buyers.

Apple marketing chief PhilSchiller praised the new iPhoneas “an absolute jewel.”

Apple will start takingorders for the phone Friday andbegin shipments on September21 in the US, Canada, Britain,France, Germany, Australia,Hong Kong, Singapore andJapan, and the phone will beavailable in 100 countries by theend of the year. Pricing for UScustomers will start at $199 witha two-year telecom service con-tract.

Schiller said the taller iPhonenestles in one’s palm to natural-ly align with thumbs and workson the faster mobile Internet net-

works known as LTE.The new device features

Apple’s own new A6 processor, which according to Schiller, dou-bles the speed for loading Webgraphics.

“The primary purchasedrivers for smartphones areprice, features, operating system, apps and screen size,” Wendersaid during an iPhone 5 hands-on session during the event.“Apple addressed all those keydrivers today in spades.”

Battery life, a key complaintof smartphone users, is extendedto eight hours with mobilephone and browsing and 10hours if Wi-Fi connections areused. Apple also customised asophisticated mapping program, upgraded its voice-activatedassistant known as Siri and moretightly integrated Facebook.

Analysts expect Apple to sell

tens of millions of iPhone 5models in coming months.

Morgan Stanley analyst KatyHuberty said Apple may shipbetween 48 million and 53 mil-lion iPhones in the fourth quar-ter and “up to 266 million” in2013.

But NPD analyst StephenBaker cautioned that the key USmarket has “very different

dynamics” than for previousiPhone launches.

“The US smartphonemarket appears to be anincreasingly mature one,” hesaid. Baker contended that itwould be “more difficult forApple to easily take share fromweakened competitors, becausemany of the easy share gains

have already been accom-plished.”

Apple has fierce cus-tomer loyalty and has beenrapidly gaining users, buthas failed to keep pace withsmartphones powered byGoogle’s Android OS.

Research firm IDC saidApple had 16.9 per cent of

the global smartphone market, with 68 per cent of the marketheld by makers of Androidphones, led by Samsung.

The change prompted popu-lar wireless headsetand

speaker makerJawbone to release a YouTubevideo showing stereo dockaccessories exploding in timewith “The Blue Danube Waltz”by Johann Strauss. “We think thedock is dead,” said Jawbonechief executive Hosain Rahman.“Some people are worried aboutthe connector news making theirmobile docks obsolete, but wethink docks make your mobiledevice immobile.” “The future iswireless,” said the head of thecompany behind Jambox speak-ers.

Apple shares, which hitrecord highs this week andextended the company’s posi-tion as the world’s most valu-able firm, rose 1.39 percent to$669.79 on the news. Sharesinched up to $671.20 in after-hours trades on the Nasdaq.

Apple is widely expected tolaunch a smaller version of itsmarket-leading iPad tablet com-puter later this year.

Wednesday’s launch eventalso unveiled a new lineup ofmusic players including the iPodtouch, essentially an iPhonewithout mobile connections, andthe iPod nano. AFP

JAMMU: In a major break-through, Jammu and KashmirPolice has arrested a top militantwho is suspected to have pro-vided logistical support tohijackers of IC-814 in 1999 andwas operating for the last 25years in the state.

Mehrajuddin alias Javed, aclose associate of United JihadCouncil (UJC) chief SyedSalahuddin and underworlddon Dawood Ibrahim, wasarrested during an operation inKishtwar forest belt, a seniorpolice officer told PTI today.

His name had figured in theIC-814 hijack case as he had pro-

vided logistic support for hijack-ing of the Indian aircraft toKandahar from Nepal, the offi-cer said.

The Indian Airlines plane, with mainly Indians passengers,

had taken off from Nepal onDecember 24, 1999 and just as itentered Indian airspace, the mil-itants hijacked it to Kandahar inAfghanistan. The hijackers alsokilled one passenger.

The hijacking ended whenthe Indian government releasedthree terrorists includingMaulana Masood Azhar andAhmed Omar Saeed Sheikh forthe safe return of the passen-gers.

LIVELIHOOD ISSUES

Over 5000 fishermen fami-lies, who were includedin the PDS scheme to

make up for the loss of liveli-hood during the ban on fishingfor breeding of turtles here, areyet to get the benefits.

The PDS ration was expectedto reach the targeted families bymid-July, but the scheme has hita roadblock. Aware of the loss oflivelihood following the seven-month prohibition fromNovember 1 to May 31 on fishing

in the sea, the government hadearlier announced extension ofPDS facilities for the affectedfishermen families.

“We have identified morethan 5,400 families who areentirely dependent on fishing. The identified families are eitherdirectly or indirectly affected byturtle conservation measureshave been enumerated for PDSbenefits,” assistant director ofmarine fisheries, Paradip, RabiNarayan Pattnaik said.

The department has submit-ted a list to government agenciesso that the affected people couldavail of the subsistence packageand alternate livelihood pro-gramme, he said. “PDS benefitsare yet to reach the targeted fam-ilies, but we are hopeful thescheme will get un de rway short-ly. The affected fa m ilies are enti-tled to all PDS benefits including

rice at `2 a kg,” he said. After prohibition was lifted

on May 31, fishing is being dis-rupted due to frequent formationof low pressure. Rough sea hasprevented fishing for fortnight-long spells in the past threemonths. Adding to their woes isdispute between exporters andtrawler operators.

“We are pinning hopes thatsubsidized PDS rice would pro-vide relief during the lean sea-son. We are feeling let down,”said Adikanda Roul, a fisher-man.

It’s pertinent to note thatevery year, the state governmentclamps a 7-month ban on fishingin a 20 km radius from Dhamara

to the mouth of the Devi river. The legal embargo is to

ensure the safety of breeding tur-tles who perish in large numbereither by getting entangled infishing nets or by getting hit bypropellers of trawlers.

The prohibition in past yearshas resulted in a drastic drop inmarine fish production and ineconomy of the region which islargely regulated by the sea fish-ing sector, said Tushar Sardar ofOrissa Traditional Fish WorkersAssociation.

Ancillary sectors like ice-fac-tories and net-making units inthe area have closed down.

Skilled boat-makers and netweavers from these areas areslowly shifting towards Dighaand Vishakhapatnam due tobleak business prospects, heclaimed.

Will NirmalKhatri, the little-known newlyappointed UttarPradesh state

Congress president, be able toturn the fortunes of India’s grandold party and bring it back toreckoning in the country’s mostpolitically consequential statewhen his more famous predeces-sors have failed for the lastalmost quarter of a century?

It would seem an uphill task, given the legacy of failures hehas inherited. The Congress hasfaced successive defeats at thehustings for the last 23 years invarious parliamentary andAssembly polls in UP, that sendsthe largest number of MPs — 80— to the Lok Sabha.

While optimists prefer toplay safe — “let us see” being thecommon refrain — most feel thatthe political battle in the state is“lost for many years to come.”

Khatri, 61, who representsFaizabad in Parliament, wasappointed to the post lateAugust, replacing RitaBahuguna Joshi, who had put inher papers after the party’s poorshow in the Assembly polls inMarch when it won just 28 seats—only six more than in 2012.

Poring through the trackrecord of the past state presi-dents of the UPCC too offers lit-tle hope of resurrection. Partyloyalists blame the “continuanceof bad luck” on poor selectionsmade by the high command.

“Never have they chosen agrass root worker; the appoint-ment of state presidents has beenlargely a matter of loyalty to theleader rather than about abilityto take along the worker,” a dis-appointed Congress worker said.

Since the party was sweptout of power in the wake ofMandal politics in 1989, the partyhas seen a dozen state unit presi-

dents. But while most haveended up being Union ministersand governors, the party’s poorrun is yet to come to an end. Andso it is not surprising that a partywhich ruled the state till 1989slipped to become the mainOpposition and then sank to thefourth position.

When the Congress cameinto the Opposition, BalramSingh Yadav (1988-89) — a leaderfrom the prominent Yadav beltof Etawah-Mainpuri and aknown ‘foe’ of SP chief MulayamSingh Yadav — was handed overthe reins hoping to keep “itself inthe race of Mandal politics.”This, however, did not happenand the party organisation crum-bled in the face of caste politics.Yadav went on to become aUnion minister.

The late Mahabir Prasad, who twice headed the stateCongress (1984-1988 and 1991-1992), also could not create anyripples. The party did notimprove but he later had manystints as a Union minister andalso as governor of Haryana andHimachal Pradesh.

ND Tiwari led the stateCongress in 1994-1995 and 1997-1998 but he too failed miserably. With the Brahmin card failing

miserably, Tiwari was eased outafter the creation of Uttarakhandand made CM. He later becamethe AP governor.

Salman Khurshid succeededhim (1998-2000) and was madestate unit head again in 2004-2007, but he too failed to whip upthe party morale. He ended upbeing the union minister.

Sri Prakash Jaiswal’s (2000-2002) stint too had nothing towrite home about . He, however, went on to become minister ofstate for home affairs and later aCabinet minister.

The Congress’s dalliancewith other leaders too has endedup in a disaster. Jagdambika Pal(2003-2004), now an MP, couldnot even win his legislative seatin 2007 when Mayawati swept topower. The latest in the long listof state presidents was RitaBahuguna Joshi. President dur-ing 2007-2012, Joshi no doubtsucceeded in raising the tempo, but when it came to winningseats the party failed miserably.

Observers feel the partyneeds more than a face (RahulGandhi) and frequent changes inthe leadership, the organisation-al structure needs to be rebuilt inthe state for any improvement inits fortunes. IANS

WASHINGTON: The UnitedStates suspects a deadly attackon a US consulate in Libya was awell-planned assault by mili-tants instead of a rampagingmob, US officials saidWednesday, renewing concernsabout the role of extremists inthe wake of the Arab Spring.

The attackers appear to haveused protests over an inflamma-tory film as a pretext to stage amajor assault involving smallarms fire and rocket-propelledgrenades that lasted severalhours, overwhelming the securi-ty team at the consulate inBenghazi.

“That’s the working hypoth-esis at the moment,” said asenior US official, who spoke oncondition of anonymity.

“This was a complex attack,”he told AFP. “They seemed tohave used this (protest) as an

opportunity.”The gunmen, who opened

fire on the American consulateand kept US security teams atbay for hours, may have hadlinks to Al-Qaeda or beeninspired by the terror network, officials said, stressing thatinvestigators needed more timeto gather facts.

“It is too early to definitively

attribute the attack to Al-Qaedaor its affiliates,” the official said.

However, the chairman ofthe House IntelligenceCommittee, Mike Rogers, saidthe attack that killed the USambassador, Chris Stevens, andthree of his staff resembled anAl-Qaeda operation.

“There are still some fuzzydetails... but clearly it has all the

hallmarks of an Al-Qaeda-styleevent,” the Republican lawmak-er told CNN.

Tuesday’s assault came amida wave of protests in Muslimcountries against a US-madeamateur Internet film thatmocks the Prophet Mohammed.

Initial accounts suggestedthe assault was the result of vio-lent riots but as more detailsemerged, officials and expertssaid the evidence pointed to adeliberate plot staged to markthe anniversary of theSeptember 11, 2001 attacks onthe United States.

In response to Tuesday’sattack, the United States dis-patched two naval destroyers towaters off Libya and deployed a50-strong counter-terrorismteam of US Marines to bolstersecurity at its Tripoli embassy.

The United States also hasunmanned drone aircraft at itsdisposal to help Tripoli trackmilitants who may have carriedout the attack, officials said.

THE INNER MEANING OF BODY ART

14HIGH-FLYING THOUGHTSPoor old Kevin Pietersen. That dastardly ECB has given him the last thing abeaten man needs: hope. The ECB announced yesterday that they haddelayed naming their squad for the India series. Is that because they wantto give Kevin a chance, or just keep him simmering? Who knows!

“Hey, in Russia those tattoos mean you have killed someone,” I said to Cynthia when Ifirst met her. A bit surprised at what I said, I had to explain myself to her before shesmacked me with a pencil or lipstick. You see Cynthia is a make-up artist who, in part, expresses her art through her work and her tattoos. With over 15 tattoos all over andmany more to come according to her, one cannot help but notice the colorful array of artwork that tells her story. Is North Africa at the tipping point?

The US Ambassador to Libya J Christopher Stevens is dead and once again NorthAfrica is on the precipice. When gunmen stormed the US Consulate in Benghazi

in a violent backlash to a bizarre anti-Islamic video it conjured images of the Iranhostage Crisis of 1979–81. Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney was quick topaint president Barack Obama as a latter-day Jimmy Carter (a peacenik sans spine). But

Obama’s response to the tragedy was quietly powerful. The last thing the world and theregion needs right now is US jingoism, a forceful knee-jerk reaction that will rip the

sands of Africa asunder. The US must tread carefully, but it must not relinquish its bigstick. What will be pivotal is the Egypt and Libyan governments’ reaction to the attackson the US consulates. If they strongly condemn the actions of the gunmen and do their

best to find the killers and bring them to justice, then there’s still hope that the regionwill not fall prey to fanatics. If not, things could get very ugly, very soon.

An Apple a day

Now allthat’s left for the company is to launch itsApple TV, a microwave that can also playHalo3 and keep Jobs smiling on high.

Irecently finished MitchAlbom’s latest novel

The Time Keeper. In trueAlbom style, the book features

God in a starring, if not leadrole, as it tells us about the man

who created time and his eternalpenance for tampering with

immortal machinations. Let’sleave God out of this, however,

and talk about time itself: thelooming shadow across our life.

As humans we take time forgranted, we look at the sun rise

and set but never really see it.The seconds that speed by us, do

so like thieves stealing awaywith the corporeal Grail in thedead of night. We let the min-

utes pass by because we knowthat they will be followed by

more…and more. Until one daywe look up from our routine

reverie to find that the decadeshave passed us by and left in

their wake a physical frailty thatall the praying in the world can’t

change.To those who believe, the

end of time signals the begin-ning of eternity; for those of us

who don’t, it signals the comingfinality. A darkness so encom-passing that all knowledge is

swallowed in its maw. Timeends, just like life. It is what we

do while the clock still runs thatcounts, the rest is but a chrono-

logical ramble to find a fittinglegacy that we leave behind for

the generations to come. It issomething that parents under-

stand all too well, but a fact thatpoliticians and generals barely

fathom.

Her reason: “I love sweets so much”My Reason: “I am addicted to pastriesand if I ever found myself in a foreigncountry where they don’t understand meI can at least point to the tattoo and thenmy mouth indicating to the person,“Where the hell can I get myself a cake?”Another good thing about such a tattoois that in some countries, I found out, apicture of a cupcake in the airport indi-cates the designated area for “LostLuggage”.

If you are feeling inspired but your parents or partner doesn’t want you to get a tattoo let me know and I’ll create the perfect reason foryou to get one. Ok I’m going to go look for lost luggage.

Her reason: “So this is a pic of how I seemyself in dreams”My reason: Isn’t it obvious why I would getthis tattoo? As a dedicated doctor I would getthis tattoo for medical reasons. Say it’s latenight in the emergency room and sick girlcomes in who and is in a lot of pain. In factshe is in so much pain that she can barely talk.So how do I get her to explain to me where ithurts? Well I’m glad you asked, I would showher this tattoo and ask her to point on therewhere she feels the pain.

Her reason: “My way of saying make upis my life.”My reason: While this is a very colorfuland amazingly artistically done tattoo thatmakes for a great piece of artwork, theonly reason I can think why I would want toget a tattoo like this is either I lost a bet orthe tattoo artist got me confused withsomeone that is cool enough to wear a tat-too like that. The only way a tattoo wouldbe cool on me is if I got the word “COOL”tattooed on me.

Ryan King (MatthewPerry) is a recently-widowed sports-talkradio host who wants

to get back to work. But it’sobvious, he hasn’t come toterms with his grief. So his supe-riors impose one condition —that he attend grief-counselling.Cut to an ensemble of sad mis-fits and oddballs that are hissupport group. Their loony-to-a-fault, quirks and tics, withmalcontent but fun Perry at oneend and the killjoy but caringtherapist Lauren (LauraBenanti) all trying to get past theloss in their life, contribute forall the gags in the show.

Yeah, okay. So it’s not origi-nal. But it doesn’t even pretendto be. In fact, its unlikely thatyou can watch Go On withoutfinding yourself drawing paral-lels to Community. Or if by asmall stretch, even Charlie She -en’s Anger Management. The typ -es are all there. The overachiev-ing/nerdy Asian, the weirdgay/creepy/pervert baldy, theuptight control-freak, the dis-abled elderly guy, the wimpy fatgirl and of course, one with inti-

macy issues. Needless to say,Perry is the insolent, rule-break-ing Jeff Winger, forced againsthis will to join the group andultimately ends up havingbecome an important part of it.

And Anger Management inpart because of the similaritiesbetween the actors CharlieSheen and Matthew Perry. Bothknown for their impeccablecomic timing, incredible screenpresence and unbelievable fanfollowing. Both trying, often atad too hard, to shed the hang-overs from the roles of theirlives – Charlie Cooper (Two anda Half Men) and Chandler Bing(F.R.I.E.N.D.S). Both, havingaged a million years, since welast saw them on screen. And ofcourse, the similarity in plot.

But to be sure, Go On is not

as funny or likeable asCommunity nor as desperate asAnger Management. At best, itfalls somewhere in between. Itlacks the strong support castthat makes Community the showit is. However, on its own, it’sjust about enough. Perry’ssnarky wit, the group’s loony, quirky, antics evoke enoughlaughs and is likely to keep youentertained for the duration ofthe show. Interestingly, the

show also has space for a fewscenes when it slows down andallows for a few moments of realinsight on individual fears, pains and frustrations that addsthat little bit extra to an other-wise frivolous hour.

But then, we only have thepilot to judge from. The realquestion that viewers will beasking is that assuming Ryancan’t be in therapy forever andthere’s only so much grievingand mourning that the supportgroup can do, where does theshow go on to? The answermight just make all the differ-ence. Until then, Go On mightkeep you going until the nextseason of BBT or HIMYM isback.

19Sudden and unexpected

SADS or Sudden Adult Death Syndrome is a condition in which a perfectly healthy person dies suddenly without any known cardiac problem.

The incident left everyoneshocked. Raina, a per-fectly healthy mother ofa one-year-old boy, sud-

denly passed away in her sleep.Raina and her family had only afew days ago celebrated the firstbirthday of her son. She wasrushed to the hospital where thedoctors declared her broughtdead. Doctors were unable tofind a cause. It was ultimatelydeclared that Raina had been avictim of Sudden Adult DeathSyndrome, commonly referredto as SADS.

Sudden Adult DeathSyndrome implies a series ofunknown causes that result insudden deaths.

This could include heart ail-ments, medicinal reactions andother causes. SADS is mostlyused to refer to SuddenArrhythmic Death Syndrome, which is a collectiveterm for a group of cardiac prob-lems that may cause suddendeath.

Dr Manoj Kumar Agarwala, cardiologist, Apollo Hospitals, explains, “When a person withno heart problems experiencesan increase in the heart beat anddoes not reach hospital on time, sudden death may occur.”

CAUSESThe causes may be sudden heartattack or a congenital heartproblem such as hypertrophic

cardiomyopathy (thickening ofthe heart’s muscles) or an electri-cal abnormality in the heart, saysDr Agarwala.

Most of the problems that

may cause SADS are related toirregularities in the QT interval. The QT interval refers to thetime between the Q and T wavein the electrical cycle of the heart

(as seen in an ECG). They may include conditions

such as Long QT Syndrome,Brugada Syndrome and ShortQT Syndrome.

Displacia and atherosclerosis(thickening of the arteries) mayalso be causes.

SYMPTOMSAbout the symptoms, Dr Manojsays, “A person suffering fromthese problems may suffer frompalpitations, sweating and gid-diness. These symptoms mayalso be associated with anxiety-related problems. So, it is betterthat they check with their doctors as they will be able togive a correct diagnosis.”

PROMINENCEAccording to Dr Manoj, SADS isnot very common. The mainproblem is with people notreaching the hospital on time. While testing is not that com-monly done in the young, people with a past history of car-diac problems or a family histo-ry of someone passing away dueto SADS, should get themselvestested.

Genetic testing is availablefor various ailments that may berelated to SADS.

Graves’ diseaseGraves' disease refers to an ailment inwhich there is an overactivity of the thyroid gland. The ailment is said to bean auto-immune disease, wherein theimmune system produces an antibodythat interacts with the cells of the thy-roid and stimulates them to secreteexcessive amounts of thyroid hormones. This is eight times more common inwomen than in men. Graves’ diseasemay also run in families.

Contrary to what isoften believed, lessthan one per cent ofthe bacteria may actu-ally cause disease. In reality,

some of the bacteria that exist in ourbody is actually good for us — such asthose that are present on our skin.

What is arrythmia?

SADS is mainly caused dueto the irregular beating

of the heart. The pumpingaction of the heart is said tooccur due to electricity thatflows through it. An irregu-larity of flow when it comesto the flow of electricity inthe heart is referred to asarrythmia. An ECG helpsdiagnose these irregularities.

Painkillers could killMI survivors early

Researchers concluded that certain painkillers can elevate chances of an early death among heart attack survivors.

LONDON: Popular painkillerssuch as ibuprofen can elevatechances of an early deathamong heart attack (MI) survivors, suggests a study.

Some of these drugs, avail-able over the counter, can makethe blood clot more easily andtrigger heart attacks or strokes. There is the perception amongresearchers that such drugsshould not be made so easilyavailable on prescription.

Researchers fromCopenhagen UniversityHospital, Demark, led by Anne-Marie Schjerning Olsen, drewtheir conclusions after looking

at death rates in more than1,00,000 people who had suf-fered one heart attack, the journal Circulation reported.

Almost half of them or 44per cent were subsequently puton a group of painkillers collec-tively known as non-steroidal

anti-inflammatory inhibitor orNSAIDs, according to theTelegraph.

Olsen said: "It is importantto get the message out to clini-cians taking care of patientswith cardiovascular disease thatNSAIDs are harmful, even sev-eral years after a heart attack."

These all work in a similarway, and include ibuprofen, naproxen and diclofenac.

At the end of the first yearafter a heart attack, those whohad received at least oneNSAID prescription were 59 percent more likely to have died ofany cause, than those who did

not take them. After five years, this mortal-

ity difference persisted — infact the gap had grown to 64per cent. It is likely those pre-scribed NSAIDs were lesshealthy than the others, and somore likely to die sooner.

Researchers, adjusting forhealth differences as well asother factors including age, sex, income, and the year they werehospitalised for their heartattack, concluded that NSAIDswere most probably causingheart attack survivors to dieearlier.

Doctor canprovide asafer solutionI recently saw an ad in a lead-ing daily promoting a vaginaltightening cream. How do thesecreams really work and are theysafe? Who can use them?

Whenever we feel that apatient requires some hor-

monal help, we do a routinevaginal and breast examination, then we do a pap smear. If thatis okay, then the patient is pre-scribed a vaginal cream, patchesto be used twice weekly or lessfor a period of six months.

If you are young, and have aloose vagina due to birthinjuries, then no cream will help.Meet your doctor and get itrepaired! You will save yourselfa lot of complications!

The advertisements for vagi-nal creams which come in dubi-ous midnight commercials needto be taken with a pinch of salt. Most of these contain harshchemical ingredients, petro-chemicals, endocrine disruptors,or irritants to which you mayhave a sensitivity, such as alco-hol, parabens, or propylenegly-col. They act as vaginal mois-turisers, reducing dryness, giv-ing the sense of plumpness.

There are suppositories withVitamin E, astroglide, and natu-ral oils which are available forvaginal smoothness, whetherthat smoothness gives one thedesired result of vaginal tightening is the big question!

I sometimes feel magazinesshould take responsibility fortheir advertisements becausethere are a millions who believethem and spend money too!

Sometimes, women try outwonder drugs more to please theopposite sex, and we need tounderstand the limits of safety, even in cosmetic use. So beforeyou fall prey to dubious com-mercials, meet a doctor. Shewould probably give you some-thing safer with better results!

The answer: The kakurogrid, unlike in sudoku, can be of any size. It hasrows and columns, and dark cells like in a cross-word. And, just like in a crossword, some of thedark cells will contain numbers. Some cells willcontain two numbers.

However, in a crossword the numbersreference clues. In a kakuro, the numbers are allyou get! They denote the total of the digits in therow or column referenced by the number.

Within each collection of cells — calleda run — any of the numbers 1 to 9 may be usedbut, like sudoku, each number may only be usedonce.

Let’s have an example to explain this conceptmore clearly:

In the image above, which shows a section ofa kakuro puzzle, you will see the numbers ‘26’and ‘14’ in the top row. Look at the 14. Thismeans that the total of the three cells under-neath must sum to 14. Therefore 9, 4, 1 could bethe answer, or perhaps 7, 4, 3 and so on...

So, how do you work out the actual combi-nation? Well, this is done through eliminationand cross-referencing. For instance, as you workout the answers for other kakuro clues, this willnaturally limit the valid combinations, and hencethe answer for this particular run.

Note the second cell in row two — it con-tains two numbers, 30 and 11. The 30 refers tothe vertical run underneath the number 30 andthe 11 refers to the two cells to the right, hori-zontally, of the number 11.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2012

DAVID TRIFUNOVGlobal Post

LONDON: British Prime Mini -ster David Cameron apologisedtoday to families of soccerfans killed 23 years ago duringthe infamous Hillsboroughdisaster.

It was Britain’s worst sport-ing disaster when – on April 15,1989 – 96 spectators died in a cr -ush of humanity during a ga mebe tween Liverpool and Not ti n g -ham Forest in an FA Cup semifi-nal. The Hillsborough stadiumter r aces were overcrowded, andmany victims suffocated as fanspushed forward.

“I want to be very clear aboutthe view the government takesabout these findings and why af -ter 23 years this matters so much, not just for the families but forLiverpool and for our country asa whole,” Cameron said.

“What happened that day –and since – was wrong.”

The apology comes as a newreport into the incident and reac-tion is published.

After scrutinizing 450,000pages and reopening old docu-ments, the Hillsborough Indep -endent Panel cast doubt onpolice and emergency serviceshandling of the tragedy, CNNreported.

The Bishop of Liverpool, theRight Reverend James Jones, chaired the panel.

He said he hopes “greatertransparency will bring to thefamilies and the wider public agreater understanding of thetragedy and its aftermath,”according to CNN.

“It is only with this trans-parency that the families andsurvivors, who have behavedwith such dignity, can with somesense of truth and justice cherishthe memory of their 96 lovedones,” the bishop said.

The report concluded that

police tried to blame drunk andunruly fans for the disaster, BBCsaid.

South Yorkshire Policealtered reports and spreadrumors and accusations throughthe press.

The report also suggestedambulance teams didn’t enact adisaster response plan.

Trevor Hicks lost two daugh-ters at Hillsborough and said thefamilies are still pressing for“accountability,” BBC reported.

“The truth is out today, jus-tice starts tomorrow,” he said, according to BBC.

After 23 years, Hillsboroughtruth finally sees light of day

Over two decades after 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death in Hillsborough during agame between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup semifinal, documents relatingto the disaster have been released to the Press and public. What emerged was a tale of gross

police incompetence and facts that the tragedy could have been averted.

Summary of thefindings n Some 116 of the 164 state-

ments identified for substantiveamendment were amended toremove or alter commentsunfavourable to SYP (SouthYorkshire Police)

n SYP sought to develop andpublicise a version of eventsthat focused on several policeofficers’ allegations of drunken-ness, ticketlessness and vio-lence among a large number ofLiverpool fans’

n No evidence to support theseallegations other than a fewisolated examples... clearlyreflecting frustration and des-peration

n No evidence to verify allega-tions of exceptional drunken-ness, ticketlessness or violenceamong Liverpool fans

n No evidence that fans had con-spired to arrive late at the stadi-um and force entry and no evi-dence that they stole from thedead and dying

n Alcohol consumption was “notexceptional for a social orleisure occasion”

n The safety of the crowd admit-ted to the terrace was compro-mised at every level

n Among the failings were inade-quate turnstiles, the manage-ment of the crowd by the policeand stewards, the constructionof the pens, lack of precisemonitoring of crowd capacitywithin the pens

n The risks were known and thecrush in 1989 was foreseeable

n Consequences of opening exitgates to relieve congestion atthe turnstiles had not beenrealised

n Delay in recognising that th e rewere mass casualties; majorincident plan not correctly acti-vated

n Rescue and recovery effortswere affected by lack of leader-ship, coordination, prioritisationof casualties and equipment

n Panel found that some fans,“partially asphyxiated, survivedfor a significant period”. Up to41 lives could potentially havebeen saved if they had beentreated earlier, though it is notclear if any one individual“would or could have survivedunder different circumstances”

MacKenzie apologises for ‘The Truth’The editor of Rupert Murdoch’s British tabloid The Sun at the time of theHillsborough football stadium disaster apologised for running a story 23years ago that blamed fans for the tragedy.

Kelvin MacKenzie said he had been “totally misled” into running a front-page story with the headline ‘The Truth’, together with false claims that sup-porters picked the pockets of victims and urinated on police.

“Today I offer my profuse apologies to the people of Liverpool for thatheadline,” he said in a statement issued hours after an independent panelpublished a report revealing a huge police cover-up of the tragedy.

Polo finally gets its duePolo player Samir Suhag was among the Arjuna award winners this year. It was

after 25 years that a polo player has won this prestigious award.

G. APARNA [email protected]

This year’s list of Arjunaawardees had a namewhich stood out; it was

Samir Suhag. There was nothing“out of place” with regards to thename. The uniqueness was withregards to the sport he played —polo. It was after 25 years that apolo player was presented withthe Arjuna award for his exploitsin the game.

While winning the award didnot come surprise Samir, he cer-tainly did not anticipate winningit this year as much as he had lastyear. “We anticipated that Iwould receive the award lastyear but it did not surprise usthat it happened this yearinstead. The feeling is yet to com-pletely sink in,” said Samir.

A +5 handicap player, Samiris currently in the city for theHyderabad Polo season. Beforetaking up polo, he used to playgolf and tennis. His tryst withthe game began when he used towatch his father play polo for thearmy. “It was after my 12th [stan-dard] that I started playing the

game. I was 17 years old when Itook my first horse-ridinglessons,” said the father of twowho has represented the countryat many international tourna-ments including polo WorldCups. Samir has conquered great

heights with regards to the sport. But like many other sports per-sonalities, he agrees that, polo, among numerous games, doesnot have too many takers thoughthis trend seems to be improving.

“Polo did have its share of

sponsors and but the 2004 worldeconomic crisis saw many spon-sors pull out,” rues Samir. “Butthis situation is improving now.”

On asked if, polo being acostly game, was proving to be ahindrance for many in pursuing

the sport, Samir begged to differ.“Nowadays, many clubs like theBison Polo and Riding Club, pro-vide horse riding sessions at sub-sidized rates. When these facili-ties are compared to those pro-vided for sports like golf, it is cer-tainly much lesser and alsoaffordable. Rearing horses can bea costly affair but not otherwise.”

Polo is more prevalent inplaces like Jaipur and Jodhpurwhen in comparison to a city likeHyderabad. But this does notdeter the his hopes of bridgingthe gap and seeing the gamereach greater altitudes as hebelieves that the country has itsfair share of talent which needsto be tapped. In his endeavor todo his bit, Samir coaches when-ever possible and also hopes toopen an academy in the nearfuture as this is his way of givingback to the sport.

On the family front, Samirand wife Preeti have beenblessed with two kids — daugh-ter Sanya and son Yash. While 14year-old Sanya has begun takinglessons in horse riding, it remain-s to be seen if little Yash followshis father’s footsteps or not.

PARIS: The twin towers of JohnIsner and Sam Querrey, allied tothe Bryan twins, Mike and Bob,in the doubles will give UScoach Jim Courier hope that theUnited States can upset holdersSpain in the Davis Cup semi-finals in Gijon this weekend.

Under the captaincy ofGrand Slam winner Courier, they have chalked up back-to-back away wins in Switzerland(5-0), where Isner shockedRoger Federer, and France (3-2)where he defeated Jo-WilfriedTsonga in the decisive rubber.

Courier believes the USbandwagon can claim anotherscalp.

“It’s the ultimate ask, goinginto Spain and playing them onred clay, where they haven’t lostin a long time,” he said in NewYork during the US Open.

“We certainly aren’t thefavourites and we felt that way in the first two matches as well. We’ve had the toughestdraw you can have in DavisCup.

“If we get to the final, let’srun the table. Let’s be on theroad all year long. Let’s go toArgentina and win it downthere. If we’re going to do this

let’s make this the greatest roadseason in modern Davis Cuphistory.”

Easing the task on hand forthe Americans is the fact that

Spain will have to do withoutstar turn Rafael Nadal who con-tinues to rest his troublesomeknees on the injury sidelines.

Nadal on clay would haverepresented a near-certain twopoints for the hosts, leaving theAmericans needing to win thethree remaining rubbers.

As it is they still have todefeat two of the finest clay-courters in world tennis in theshape of world No 5 DavidFerrer and No 12 NicolasAlmagro.

Victory saw World Twenty20champions England, who headto Sri Lanka on Thursday todefend the title they won in theCaribbean two years ago, square this three-match series at1-1 with one no result.

Most of Buttler’s runs, in amatch reduced by rain to 11overs per side, came in a costlyninth over worth 32 from left-arm quick Wayne Parnell.

It was the second mostexpensive over in Twenty20international history afterYuvraj Singh struck Englandcaptain Stuart Broad for 36 runsmade up of six sixes in Durbanduring the inaugural 2007World Twenty20.

England made 118 for five —with man-of-the-match Buttlerfacing just 10 balls includingthree sixes and two fours.
