Duration of StudyThe PhD takes 4 academic years (12 semesters) while the Master’s Degree takes 2 academic years (6 semesters), excluding Master of Human Resource Management which is takes a minimum of 12/3
academic years (5 semesters) to complete.

ApplicationApplication is open throughout the year for all programmes. However, intakes are on a semester basis in January, May and September.

OUM LEARNING METHODOLOGYLearners choose the nearest location as their learning
centres and the number of subjects per semester. We offer a flexible blended mode of learning.
FACE-TO-FACE INTERACTIONFace-to-face tutorial sessions
are conducted at Learning Centres during weekends or after office hours.
SELF-MANAGED LEARNINGWhere learners study independently according to their time availability.
ON-LINE LEARNINGElectronic communication tools such
as e-mail, bulletin board and chat rooms are provided to facilitate interaction
among learners, tutors and facilitators.

Doctor of Philosophy (Business Administration)Programme StructureThe Doctor of Philosophy (Business Administration) programme is a postgraduate research degree, which is purely by preparing and completing a research thesis.
This programme comprises of three parts:• Part I Compulsory Core Courses • Part II Research • Part III Thesis Examination
Part I: Each candidate will be required to take the following courses:a) Research Methodology in Business Administration 3 Creditsb) Seminar in Management OR Seminar in Marketing OR Seminar in Finance OR Seminar in Economics* 3 Credits
Candidate can also take additional courses in the following areas:a) Advanced Doctoral Seminar in Management OR Advanced Doctoral in Marketing OR Advanced Doctoral in Finance OR Advanced Doctoral in Economics* 3 Creditsb) Applied Statistics 3 Creditsc) Multivariate Statistics 3 Creditsd) Non-Parametric Statistics 3 Creditse) Research Epistemology 3 Credits*Eachcandidatemustselectoneareaofstudy
Part II:Candidates will be conducting the research and prepare the thesis through self managed learning and / or independent study under the guidance of one supervisor assigned by OUM. Each candidate must meet the assigned supervisor at least 4 times in each semester before he / she can progress in the subsequent semester.Areas of specialisations in research:• Management Human Resource, Organisational Behaviour, Strategy, Ethics, etc• Marketing Service, Consumer Behaviour, Strategy, etc• Finance Investment, Banking, Portfolio Management, etc• Economics Industrial Economics, Development, etc
Part III:In this part, the candidate has completed the thesis and is ready to submit for examination by OUM. An internal examiner and one external examiner will be appointed to assess the Doctor of Philosophy (Business Administration) thesis and the candidate will be examined in the ‘Viva Voce’ session organised by the Centre for Graduate Studies.
