Neuroscience Summer Research Multi-site NSF-REU May 16 – July 15, 2016 funded by the National Science Foundation $4,725 stipend for 9-week program Housing, meal and travel allowances First-generation college students and students from groups traditionally underrepresented in science are especially encouraged to apply. Typical Research Areas Genetic model systems Neuromodulation Cellular responses to neurotrauma Rodent behavioral assessment Cognitive and stress neuroscience Wooster, OWU, Earlham, and Kenyon are in the top 100 National Liberal Arts Colleges in the 2015 US News and World Report rankings and three of the institutions are highlighted in Colleges that Change Lives. Participants will gather weekly either virtually or at one of the participating institutions for research demonstrations, professional development in writing CVs and cover letters and career planning. Participants will work on challenging, authentic research questions and learn methods, skills and content transferrable to projects at their home institutions and graduate study. The 13 associated faculty have a collective 120 years of experience with undergraduates, have mentored over 300 students in research experiences, and have published 19 papers and over 100 conference abstracts with undergraduate co-authors.
