The Creation Process of my Poster

Eleanor Wemysseleanorwemyss.wordpress.com

Colours I am keeping with the red and gold of the theatre as my

colour scheme as it is iconic throughout the trailer.

Size I have looked at the size of a British film poster. The usual is

27 inches by 40 inches (686x1020mm). To scale down my image I have quartered it so now the size will be 17.15cm X

25.5cm

Image I have chosen to use an image with all the characters in

it as it is a psychological horror and showing all the normal characters before the problems they encounter

adheres to that genre.

Links to Magazine

As I have created my magazine before my poster I can create links between them. The red and gold of the titles and masthead create links throughout my work. The fonts will also play a integral part in the creation of my poster as they have to link together.

Firstly I need an image. These are ones that were taken at the theatre. It shows the characters in a group which is effective to what I want to create.

It also allows the colours of the theatre to stand out as the red and gold is iconic. Therefore I shall be using one of these images for the poster.

Though this picture is blurred it gives the look of a POV shot and shows the angles of the theatre

This is a mock-up of what my poster could look like. I created this on a Samsung Galaxy S5 in the afternoon of the principal filming day.

The two characters Olivia and Rory are a couple so I had the actors Seb and Nicola pose together as an alternative poster. I have decided against using this image however as they were not the main characters so it would go against conventions.

Main TitleAs I have used the fonts of ‘Poor Richard’ (PR) and ‘Baskerville Old Face’

(BOF) on my magazine I will use them on my poster also to create a link between my pieces. For the main feature I used ‘Tw Cen MT Condensed’ as it looked better as it was thicker. However, I shall be using either PR or BOF on my poster as the main title.

FOUL PLAYFoul Play

FOUL PLAYFoul Play

PR is a good font for the title as Shakespeare wrote a play on Richard III hence ‘Poor Richard’ so it would be fitting.

BOF is a stronger font as it is less rounded and fits to the theatre style

TaglineTo create a tag line I have searched for

Shakespeare quotes about death. As the main character is Beth Mackey (MacBeth) I have chosen a quote from that play. It also links to the betrayal of Brian’s character.

“After life's fitful fever, he sleeps well;Treason has done his worst”

Or“Is this a dagger which I see before me?”
