POST Academy 2017-01

The next POST Academy, 2017-01, will begin on Monday, January 23, 2017. With 32 slots available should the academy reach capacity, priority will be based upon:

CAT I & II Officers that will reach their year since hire prior to the graduation of Class 2017-01

CAT II’s

Rural CAT III’s

Tribal Agencies

The enrollment packet is available on the Training section of our website. The dead-line for the submission of completed packets will be the close of business

January 5, 2017. After that date, attendance will be on a fir st come, fir st served basis.

Attention Veterans Attending the POST Academy 2017-01

If you are a veteran and qualify for the GI Bill Benefits, and would like to apply for those benefits prior to the acad-emy, please complete:

Form 22-1990 (if you have never applied)

Form 22-1995 (if you have already applied for benefits)

POST will also need a copy of all certificates, copy of transcripts (unofficial is acceptable), and all training that may qualify for prior credit (DD-214, Military Transcripts, College Transcripts). Please bring all required docu-ments including these forms, filled out and completed, the first week of the academy.

UPCOMING: TASER Instructor’s Course

POST will be offering a TASER Conducted Electrical Weapon (CEW) Instructor Course November 16-17. In order to attend, regis-ter for the class on the TASER Website. This 2-day course provides the basic operational theory and practical training to instruct users to reasonably, safely, and effectively operate TASER CEWs. This course covers the TASER X26, X26P and X2 CEWs, and will certify those who successfully complete the course as TASER instructors for a period of 2 years. Part 1 of the course is completed online and new instructors will spend approximately 4 hours online before participat-ing in 16 hours of practical training. Recertifying instructors will spend approximately 8 hours online before participating in 8 hours of practical training. The course also includes several drills and exercises requiring physical exertion. Students should be in good physical condition and must advise the Master Instructor of any preexisting injuries or physical limitations.
