The Universal Power Station Insulator Tester model #3782652U is equipped with a high dielectric,adjustable Ski-Guide assembly that makes physical, non-conductive contact with the bushings orinsulators.Thetesterglidesalongthecontoursofthebushingorinsulatoranddetectsdefectivebushingsandinsulatorsofanyshapeandsizewithoutmakingelectricalcontact.Forvoltageslessthan100kV,theSki-guideassemblycanbechangedforaPressure-SwitchActuatorassembly(alsoincluded).
Operation: Theoperation technique involves attaching the lightweightmicroprocessor-based sensorprobewithaSki-Guideassemblytoahotstick.Theadjustableskisglidealongthesurfaceofanyshapeofbushingorinsulatortobetested.Eachconductivedefectcausesanelectricfielddistortion.Thetesterwillsenseandrecordthedistortion,indicatingthepresenceofadefect.
