Position: Visitor Experience Supervisor (Fulltime) Skills: Customer Service, Visitor Information, Merchandising Company: Santa Monica Travel & Tourism Position Description Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) seeks a highly motivated, flexible and responsible Visitor Experience Supervisor to work at our five (5) Visitor Information Centers. The role of this position is to provide outstanding customer service and Santa Monica knowledge to customers in Santa Monica and those potentially interested in visiting Santa Monica. Duties include accurately representing SMTT products and services from all industry sectors and encouraging visitors to extend their stay in our destination. This position reports directly to the Visitor Experience Supervisor. SMTT Overview Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, Inc. is a non-profit, non-member organization governed by a board of 11 community individuals. SMTT is the official travel and tourism promotion agency for the City of Santa Monica. It is our job to promote Santa Monica and encourage visitors to stay longer and enjoy more of what our destination has to offer. SMTT operates five (5) locations: Visitor Information Kiosk in Palisades Park; Visitor Information Center at the Santa Monica Pier; Visitor Information Cart on the 3rd Street Promenade; Visitor Information Center on Main Street; and, a Mobile Information Vehicle. Responsibilities Act as an ambassador for Santa Monica by proactively greeting visitors, answering questions and graciously providing information about Santa Monica. Develop and maintain a broad knowledge of Santa Monica and the surrounding Los Angeles area. Foster stewardship and inspire support by answering questions in-person, via email, text and telephone as inquiries vary. Will be responsible for opening and closing tasks based on set schedule. Must proactively maintain a high standard of merchandise direction that is communicated from the Director of Visitor Experience, this includes placement, store signage, proper display techniques and creating an inviting atmosphere for customers. Ensure that merchandise pricing is accurate, ordered and in stock. Supervise cash handling, credit card transactions, daily banking and POS system management. Supervise Visitor Experience Specialists, including organizing and distributing schedules, training new staff, filtering basic payroll and HR issues to the Director. Help drive, motivate and encourage Visitor Experience Specialist staff.

• Ensure that communication of daily goals is shared with the day’s staff. • Supervises monthly inventory process in accordance with SMTT policies. • Maintains the cleanliness of the store by ensuring the maintenance checklist is

followed by both staff and nightly janitorial. • Performs various administrative tasks as requested by the Director. • Pull products from retail floor or storage as needed to fulfill internal and external

orders. • Implements the system for inventory and collateral for daily distribution. • Deliver merchandise and collateral to each location and collect receipt of goods

daily. • Maintains a cohesive working relationship with all other SMTT personnel. • Lead and attend monthly mandatory staff meetings.

Requirements

! Must possess 3-5 years of retail and customer service experience. ! Must possess exceptional verbal, written and oral communication skills. ! Must possess strong technical and organizational skills. Staffing and scheduling

experience. ! A passion for Santa Monica and the missions of SMTT. ! Ability and desire to consistently provide outstanding customer service. ! Ability to work as a team player and exercise good judgment. ! Ability to work in a fast paced customer service environment. ! Ability to effectively interact with visitors and colleagues, demonstrate and

maintain a positive attitude at all times. ! Ability to maintain good judgment and be a proactive self-starter. ! Fluency in a language in addition to English is beneficial. ! Willingness to work 7 days a week including evenings, weekends and holidays. ! This position is exposed to the elements and may require walking to restroom

facilities not in your immediate location. ! This position requires working knowledge of a POS system, Lightspeed

preferred, MAC operating system, Microsoft office programs and internet searches.

! This position requires walking and standing for long periods of time, up to 8 hours a day while onsite and while distributing collateral.

! This position requires reaching and bending while cleaning and stocking. ! This position requires the ability to lift up to 25lbs. ! Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and possession of a clean driving

record. ! This is an at-will part-time position. As an at-will employer, either SMTT or the

employee may terminate the employment relationship at any time, for any reason, with or without good cause or advance notice.
