Project OutlineThe Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Sultanate of Oman has launched a concerted effort, highly coordinated and on a national scale, to expand and modernize the country’s transportation systems, including a road network and a highway linking the northern and southern regions.The Project which is situated in Oman’s Musandam Governorate called for the construction of an approximately 20.6 km paved road. The Honar Lake

The Honar Lake with an area of over 22,000 square meters is located in the heart of Abbasabad area. It meets Book Garden to the east and Bagheh Namayesh and Bagheh Honar to the west. The northern lake is 2600 square meters and the southern lake is 9700 square meters.

This lake has a capacity of 20 million liters of water allotted to the northern and southern parts. A refinery with an area of over 400 square meters has been considered in order to maintain the quality of the lake water. It keeps water quality at the standard level using the most up-to-date technologies. Water transmission and circulation system is performed using more than 3/5 kilometers of Polyethylene pipes with large diameters. Also, over 4 kilometers of Polyethylene pipes with medium and small diameters have been used in fire suppression systems, irrigation

of urban green spaces and drainage. The lake water source is supplied by a well in the vicinity of the Haqqani Highway. In case of an emergency water evacuation, the entire lake water can be discharged within a day by the evacuation system prepared under the lake.

Over 30,000 cubic meters of pre-placed aggregate concrete has been used in making the base of the lake tanks and the access routes due to the weakness in significant parts of the project ground and geotechnical problems. Project OutlineToday, construction of underground motorways is viewed as one of the most effective ways of dealing with ever-deteriorating traffic conditions in mega cities and to ensure full and maximum productive use of scarce land resources in urban areas. Part of a massive effort aimed at improving Tehran’s transportation infrastructures, the main objective of the project was to alleviate the existing traffic congestion in the area by providing a direct and rapid link between the city center and its eastern districts.

It was the first time in Iran that a project of such magnitude and complexity had been attempted. While greatly reducing the region’s air and noise pollution, meticulous care was taken to ensure that the project did not interfere with the traditional urban morphology of the district.

Yadegar Imam Flyover

Technical FeaturesYadegar Imam Flyover is supported by 92 concrete bridge piers, 17-32 meters apart. Each bridges pier has four columns. The column heads are built of precast concrete segments, with an in-situ reinforced concrete slab placed on the beams. The middle guardrail was also constructed by means of in-situ concrete method.

Reinforced earth walls which have proved to perform well against seismic forces were used to build the flyover’s six ramps. It is to be noted that the use of pre- cast concrete segments, on such a scale in various parts of the bridge, including its main structure, had no precedent in Iran.

Rehabilitation and Widening of Bishkek-Osh Road in Kyrgyzstan

Project OutlineKayson has been in the forefront of a concerted effort launched in recent years to expand Iran’s export of technical and engineering services. The Bishkek-to-Osh Road, therefore, assumes an added significance when viewed in the overall context of Kayson’s regional strategy. The project called for Kayson to reinforce, upgrade and widen a 37 km segment of the Bishkek-to-Osh Road, extending from 325th kilometer to 362nd kilometer. The road’s width which ranged from 5 to 7 meters was widened to 12 meters, of which 8 meters was paved and the remaining 4 designated to two 2-meter shoulders.

Upon completion of the project, Kayson was chosen as model foreign contractor amongst contracting firms working in Kyrgyzstan, including several well-known companies

from industrial nations. Kayson received the Award of the ”Best Foreign Contractor” from the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, at that country’s National Independence Day Ceremony on October 2000.

supported against vertical loads by 22 precast reinforced concrete girders.
