South Dock, Padstow - The existing dock wall had deteriorated and in places, collapsed. An anchored sheet piled wall was constructed to face and support the masonry walling. Larsen LX20 sheet piles were toed into the rock base and were anchored at both intermediate and capping beam levels. The sheet piles were cathodically protected against corrosion. No. 4 Dry Dock, Falmouth - A collapse of the dry dock wall had left part of the dock and adjacent land unstable. A new anchored sheet piled wall was designed by JGP to retain the infill and unstable parts of the dock. The arrangement was carefully detailed to minimise water ingress when the dock was full. The works also improved the length:width ratio of the dock from 13:1 to a more practical 8:1, providing the harbour with valuable additional working space at the head of the dock.
