Ÿ With the use of lines and circles, the relationship b e t w e e n a x i s a n d geometry was explored.

Ÿ The concept of foreground and background was applied with the use of black and white colors.

Ÿ The interaction between t h e l i n e s a n d c i r c l e s generated an altogether a new composition where the consituent elements vie for visual spremacy.

The module can be dismantled into units of wooden planks which e n a b l e s e a s y t r a n s p o r t a t i o n a n d storage.

The module is divided into two parts for the p u r p o s e o f customization by the user as per the need and availability of space.

The working area unit stays stationary while the service area unit is t r a n s f o r m e d w h i c h enables user to use it as storage space.

The module is designed with exibility for service u n i t w h i c h c a n b e utilized as a pantry or b e d a s p e r t h e requirement of the user.

the unit is design with s i m p l e a n d e x i b l e joineries which makes the assembly process easy .

The studio house is designed f o r a p r o f e s s i o n a l photographer, reecting all the aspects of a bachelor accommodation.

T h e u s e o f inclined walls with e x p o s e d concrete nish and glass gives a d y n a m i c character to the space.

The essence of the mountains is reected through the form of the roof.

The large glass openings help in eliminating the b o u n d a r i e s b e t w e e n t h e e x t e r i o r a n d interior.

Multifunctionality and the lack of pr ivacy dene the key features of the space.

The plan originates from a single point radially, with the various functions distributed at different levels.

The brief required to design an a r t ga l le ry w i th the exploration of the given material through all facets of architecture.

T h e c u r v i l i n e a r walls of the gallery d e p i c t t h e structural exibility of concrete.

T h e l a r g e unsupported spans reect the strength and character of concrete.

The gallery runs a r o u n d t h e p e r i m ete r o f a c e n t r a l p l a z a which provides an area fo r soc ia l interaction.

The circulation is in t h e f o r m o f a continuous tunnel, that creates an ambience w i th a r t w o r k a s t h e focal point for the viewer.

Interlocking of circles of various sizes was used to develop the design. The main intersection of the circles evolved the main structure of the art gallery while the subsequent branches were utilized for circulation and display of the artwork.

T h e c l u s t e r i s approached through a w i d e s t r e e t w h i c h bifurcates and narrows as one travels in. This helps in maintaining t h e s e g r e g a t i o n between the public and the private areas.

Khadkis generally act a s t h e c o m m o n reception area for the number of homes of a single family.They are narrow open spaces anked on both sides b y h o u s e s . T h e addition of khadkis around the original one results in a larger cluster known as ‘pol’.

C o m p a c t h o u s i n g within the cluster with in te r io r cour tyards minimizes the impact of solar radiation and functions to maintain a lower temperature inside.

The height of buildings in cluster is more than the width of street on plan, thus facilitating adequate shading during summer even w h e n t h e s u n i s overhead.

The growth of settlement was as

per the requirement and lacked planning at a larger scale hence, a fabric with irregular pattern of winding streets between khadkis and pols emerged. The cluster is dense, tightly knit and inwardly planned as a defensive m e a s u r e a g a i n s t t h e l o o t s prevalent in those times.Caste system being predominant, the pols formed were segregated accordingly. Such planning thus, also served to conserve the culture of the community.

COMMUNITY CENTER

The site lacked in spaces for communal interaction. The design of the community centre provided opportunities for social exchange among people of various age groups and gender

The essence and the c h a r a c t e r o f t h e vernacular pol houses is reected through the space divisions of the various functions within the house.

The provision of a chowk facilitates a visual connectivity between the rst oor and the ground oor, thus increasing the tendency of social interaction.

T h e s e m i - o p e n a r e a o u t s i d e t h e l i b r a r y functions to connect the open ant the built mass and creates a exible ambience for the sit-out of the library.

The anganwadi will be used as a daycare center for small kids. The outdoor area is in t h e c o u r t y a r d w h i c h provides a safe environment for kids to play.

The basic idea was to create a m u l t i t u d e o f interconnected s p a c e s , a l l o p e n i n g o u t t o w a r d s t h e central plaza.

The space division in the design of the accommodations f o l l o w t h e s a m e p r i n c i p l e s o f vernacular housing.

Courtyard is used as the micro-climate modier.

The different actvity blocks are placed in close proximity to e n a b l e m u t u a l shading.

The character of the i n s t i t u t e i s b u i l d through horizontality and vertical ity in s t r u c t u r e w i t h cantilever structure and ns and by use of levels.

Ÿ The academic block and the administrative block has been linked through the recreational block.

Ÿ The three most important parameters of the design were identied as the geometry of the building, the inux of daylight and the posit ioning of the different activity blocks.

Skylights have been provided along the length of the studios t o f a c i l i t a t e adequate inux of daylightfor each and individual student.

Concrete is the major material used with w o o d e n l o u v e r s which add to both aesthetic appeal as w e l l a s p r o v i d e required ventilation.

The in te rmediate spaces between the d i f fe rent act i v i t y blocks are converted into informal sitouts f o r i n f o r m a l exchanges between the students.
