Portfolio Scanning
Basics Make sure scanner is hooked up to
the computer you are using Make sure the scanner is on
(smaller, white button if not)
Materials Preparation Use only basic printing paper or smaller For larger pieces use digital camera to
transfer files to U drive Remove any staples from materials to
scan Flatten pages of any creases and crinkles Have a “Portfolio” folder created in your u
drive (Only completed and scanned pieces for the portfolio should go in here)
Multiple Pages Be cautious when scanning
multiple pages The scanner will register from last
to first, so your rubric (Appears first) should then be at the bottom of the scanning pile and will work forward to the last page
Orientation I Hold your sheet of
paper at the top, left corner (where you would normally place the staple)
Note, this is not the orientation to use while scanning
Orientation II Now, turn the sheet
180 degrees in either direction (The staple location should now be at the bottom right corner)
You are now done with the actual scanner
Orientation III Keep in mind that if scanning is
complete and the orientation is incorrect certain computers will allow for future alterations and readjustments
Your computer will need to have either ScanSnap or Adobe Acrobat (NOT Adobe Reader) to make orientation changes
Refer to the ScanSnap for Dummies PowerPoint for assistance
Saving I After
pressing the green “SCAN” button a pop up window will show up
Saving II Click “Scan2Folder” and a new menu will pop up First, check to make sure you oriented your

scanned piece according to whichever expectation it will reside (Narrative Account, Group Collaboration, Community Service, Etc.)
