PERSONAL STATEMENT
FASHION, STYLE, DESIGNING.....
All these words have always been a stimulus for me, just by listening to these words my mind starts
working. Since my school days I was interested in designing and was keen to know how to put through
my ideas and creativity in a manner so that others can perceive it. As, designing can be monumental
when we try to visualise the entire thing, but if we break it down into smaller goals suddenly it can
become manageable. Therefore, I chose to study fashion designing for my graduation so it could help
me gain knowledge about the field as I was interested in it since my teenage and have a successful
career in designing.
My portfolio comprises of colour work, sketches and my collection on garments. The bags are inspired
from ‘Qutub Minar’ a historical monument in Delhi and the shoes are inspired from traditional
embroidery called ‘Chikankari’. My first collection named EXPRESSIONS OF NDEBELE was
inspired from a South African tribe and the garment was exhibited in IIGF, it was a short embroidered
dress. My other collection name MYRIAD OF COLORS was inspired from Indian festival Holi from
which I designed an evening wear gown and a statement piece showing different colours of the festival.
My third collection was inspired from blue painted ceramic tiles used in mosques named AZRAK AZ-
ZULAYJ meaning blue pained stone. In this collection I designed embroidered traditional wear for
both male and female. I like to play with colours, textures and patterns in my garments. I have even
tried to show some of my research projects by putting few slides from the projects in my portfolio.
