Lightpadis a lightbox for all kinds of overlay. It works on the principle of ‘Total internal reflection’. Edglit light source incorporates 72 LEDs (5mm) to give very intense light and clear see through against paper till 8 layers. It provides such luminosity that it is being used as a light fixture as well.

Page 3: Portfolio hemant kumar

Compact light sourcewhen a ray of light incident upon a medium of lesser refractive index at an angle larger than a particular angle called critical angle (with respect to the normal to the surface), then no light can pass through and all of the light is reflected back.

s y s t e m s d e s i g nA study of the components and modules and points where they interface with each other within the structure of its real and imaginary existence in the system, sprawling the systems architecture to keep a certain flow of requirements between nature and man-made. It made me analyze a vast data ,understand different scenarios and reach product development through systems architecture model.

After primary research phase, major components and modules were analyzed in terms of possible interventions and their possible effect on the Thol Wildlife sanctuary and its Stakeholders. This was done with the help of CLD (Causal loop Diagram). This revealed underlying relations between different components and modules of Thol as a system. It helped substantially in building systems architecture model.

research & data analyse thisPrimary research was done by visiting Thol and areas surrounded by it, meeting people from different sects and designations and taking interviews. Conducting questionaires about Thol, its experience and issues was an eye-opener. Information available on internet was significant.

Design interventions were obtained with the help of tools like brain storming, mind mapping, emperical evidences etc. In systems model, loopholes and gaps were rectified and verified through Causal loop diagrams on a positive effect in the system. The opportunities identified mainly dealt with creating awareness amongst city population towards THOL and involvement of the locals in 4 catagories as.......

Information dissemination

Guided tour of THOL is a very interactive way to spread awareness among visitors (towards Thol) as well as locals (towards importance of thol). Employment of locals in this programme give them a hope and settle down their resentment against THOL. Visitors and ornithologists get an opportunity to share and discuss their work.

Important bus routes covering most of the important places were recognized by combining the masterplan of the city and remapped those unnoticed areas, with the help of discussions, interviews and emperical evidences.

Bird speciesRich aquatic bird life tells the story of migratory and local birds in abundance. This section of the presentation educate about a particular species.

All different types of birds in their species and their behavior are given. Interesting facts and photographs are shown to draw attention of people.

classification &Behavior

Bird’s habitat, fly-ways and migratory patterns are shown in comprehensive maps, diagrams and photographs in this section.

migration &flyways Awareness for eco-

logical importance of birds’ species will be spread by talking about decreasing bird population, its reason and consequences.

Nature & FormA form inspired by nature, translates its function and aesthetics to give a product, life. FROGO is a foot pump inspired by Frog.

Page 18: Portfolio hemant kumar

Properties They have a stout body, protruding eyes, cleft tongue, limbs folded underneath and no tails. Relative to their size, the best jumpers of all vertebrates because they have very muscular front leg and long hind leg. Frog’s illium is elongated to form a mobile joint with the sacrum which functions as an additional limb joint to further power the leaps

Page 19: Portfolio hemant kumar

FROGO is a foot pump which simulates the hind leg movement of a frog. Hidden hinges at the hind leg joints allow it to do so. When being pumped the whole structure seems like a frog assembled together for pumping air. Base of the structure is mimiced as frog’s webbed feet to give better stance and stability while pumping.

PIERLITE is a light-fixture making setup and a brand of GERARD Lighting, Australia with offices in 14 countries covering 4 continents.

PIERLITE needed FTL Highbays for the first time with completely ‘Made in india’ tag. So, here is a very efficient, low-cost, market viable, IP65 and low maintenance Highbay.

HighbayHighbays are light-fixtures for the interior of big commercial buildings, like warehouses, factories, assembly areas, gymnasiums etc. Highbays are of industrial importance and fixed on a height of 14 meters or above. So, its mandatory for them to be,

- energy-efficient- ballast efficacy combined with lamp choice- good reflectance- easy and low maintenance

Luxury car for IndiaIn a highly populated country where people are getting trapped in cramped workspaces of urban and metropoli-tan cities day by day, I define ‘luxury’ in terms of spaces.

“Luxury to have your spaces anywhere you go without compromising at task”

Luxury can be subjective to individuals in terms of materialism and allowance but it does hold everyone in terms of spiritual values and a sense of convenience. Luxury would put me in a state of mind in which it’s very convenient to interface the materialistic aspect.

brief

Page 36: Portfolio hemant kumar

+Palki was the most common mode of transportation in fashion among a particular bunch of people who belonged to rich elite class in ancient indian scenario. It was a symbol of luxury.

Bullock-cart is still very common and useful mode of transportaion for all purposes in rural indian scenario. It’s very basic, efficient and accomodating.

Sketching, starts with getting inspired by the volume of Bullock-cart and bodyline graphics of Palki which narrates the story of design language and form.

Interior

For crowded city streets and compactly distributed amenities which sometimes seem to be like a trap around us, it had to be a small car.

In order to use every possible inch, it needed to be very minimalistic. Like bullock-cart, its modular design style creates versatile usage posibilities through shifting spaces.
